UK Scene #279

By: Saz
5 February 2008

Wrestling 101 UK Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

Welcome back to the interactive UK Scene with your friendly neighbourhood Saz.

FCW started off strong this year and hopefully this is a good sign for wrestling in 2008, they defied the odds with a good turnout in January. It seems batteries are refreshed in the UK Scene, a strong Midlands contingent, with the Northern guys going exceptionally quiet.

Whatever the reason being, the UK Scene will report on your local company as we are given the news.

If you want to see and discuss the results of the Top 50, join in at this thread now.

If you are a booker or promoter and would like to add your promotion info here. If it helps get more interest to your shows from the casual web browser, then we're all better off.

What we do care about in all aspects of the UK Scene is your opinion, especially the paying punter, so if you have a say you are more than welcome to express it, whether it is a popular opinion or not.

Shock at FWE

"FWE wrestler Robbie Michaels invaded the WAW show in GT Yarmouth last Sunday. Promising multi title holder Zak Zodiac that he will bring the FWE belt back to Liverpool, Zak answered the challenge but officials made this a tag encounter. Michaels recruited "Dark Angel" Ashe and Zak recruited The Zebra Kid! A fast and furious tag match ended with Michaels getting the pinfall on Zodiac after using a steel chair.

As Zak is FWE champion he is free to defend the title a minimum of every 30 days in any wrestling company in the UK, Michaels has received a 30 day suspension for his invasion and is ordered to reunite with "Dark Angel" Ashe as Revolution X against Zak Zodiac and The Zebra Kid at the next Crosby show March 7th."

AWW Marcus Kool vs Danny Devine vs BBS

This is another Aston Uni preview match as Lee Hunter is out for revenge on BBS for trying to run him down at the last show and Danny Devine will want to inflict as much punishment on Marcus Kool as possible going into their match.

If you want to place a match focus then email [saz@wrestling101.com] and we'll add you.

ST: Do not talk to me about fake
By Saz on 6 January 2008
There’s a saying in wrestling. The person who says that wrestling is fake knows nothing about wrestling at all. Say fake to people like Chris Benoit whose “fake” concussions turned him insane, say fake to Sid whose leg broke in half after the merest of falls, say fake to every single wrestler who has been through agony [...]
ST: What does TV do for the UK Scene?
By Saz on 27 November 2007
Being a professional wrestler can be such an enjoyable experience, yet, sometimes such a frustrating one. There is that old school opinion that wrestling is built from respect and that your time and your actions deserve the opportunities that you get. I know my place in the scheme of things, I have my rung on the [...]
ST: Time to get the attitude right
By Saz on 22 September 2007
You know, when I came back from Spain, a few things dawned on me. The first being how stuck up our own arses we Brits are. Bear with me on this, I am going somewhere with this.
 ST: Viva l?Espania!
By Saz on 18 August 2007
Howdo, Your friendly neighbourhood Saz here, coming to you live from Tarragona, that would be on the South coast of Spain for all you non geography types. Yup, ole Sazza is sitting here supping Cevesa enjoying the sand, sea, sun, sangria and senoritas!
 ST: More wrestler ramblings
By Saz on 22 July 2007
I mentioned in the UK scene that I think that British wrestling is beginning to carve out a niche of its own, separate to the direct influence of the Americans. There will always be influence of course, that can’t be denied a good idea that works should always be used and the great thing about the [...]
