Welcome one and all once again to my latest thoughts and feelings on the UK wrestling Scene. It has been an interesting week in the British wrestling scene as Alex Shane swerved the FWA faithful with another brilliant promo which was hyped for weeks and very much delivered, just in a way that fans weren’t expecting. Also to report on this week is the big RBW event from Wolverhampton last week as well as Sovereign Championship joining the ranks at Talk Wrestling Online. So once again thanks for reading and enjoy.

So last weekend after writing my column most UK net fans spending their Saturday night sat in front of the computer waiting for the big Alex Shane promo courtesy of FWA Online TV which was hyped as being Alex Shane’s explanation to the fans regarding the recent scandal to hit the FWA. With the fans expecting Alex to address them on the comments made on an Internet forum by an ex employee Alex and the FWA swerved us. They never stated that they would be explaining those comments just implied that they would be instead they used to build the Hade Vansen storyline.

If recent comments weren’t enough to put Alex Shane over as a bad guy then this promo was going to help as he spoke of how he was the one behind the run ins and appearances of the banned Hade at FWA events. From the altercation at Job Squad to him winning the All England belt Alex took all the credit and has aligned himself with the “South City Thriller” to form an impressive heel duo.

Now a lot of the fans say they have been lied to or at least had their hopes built up but I thought it was absolutely brilliant the way that the FWA put it across. The method they use is tried and tested each week by WWE and works, as the fans come back for more and I think the UK really needs to learn from the way they tell stories over there so I had to smile after watching it.

One last bit of FWA news this week is after nearly two years away from the Broxbourne Civic Hall AJ Styles will be making his return to the venue where he last competed in the round robin tournament from Seasons Beatings 2002 for Vendetta 2004. AJ will no doubt be looking forward to coming back to the venue as his last time out he won the match of the year award for his bout with Jody Fleisch.

Now last week saw the return of wrestling to the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton thanks to the RBW. Now this 2000 seater venue is part of wrestling history as in the World of Sport days wrestling passed through its doors on a regular basis and was one of the premier wrestling venues in the country. The venue will no doubt be remembered by many as the venue where Kendo Nagasaki unmasked for the first and only time ever which was a history making event as Kendo had never spoken or shown his face before that point, and the same has continued since his unmasking so it was truly historic.

I think it was only fitting that RBW be the ones to go back there with their show that featured a mix of all time greats and up and coming talent. Now unfortunately the crowd size was a little disappointing but the show from what I have heard was a quality show and RBW should be commended for trying a venue like this. I know money is in short supply in the UK Scene so you can never justify hiring a big venue when you don’t have enough people attending but it would be nice if it was turned in to a regular venue again.

The event also served another good purpose as RBW used more guys from different promotions. Like this card had a good representation from midlands group FCW with local boys Spud, Rob Hunter, Jack Storm and Cameron Knite. Good to see them all getting on so well and having a good time working on a RBW card. Now if you an RBW fan and are impressed by these guys remember to check out FutureWrestling.co.uk for more information on them and when you can see them in action.

This event was a good test for RBW as they head in to a period of 5 events in 5 days as part of York Fest. RBW will be putting on daily shows from York Knavemire which will feature a line up including Tex Benedict, Ross Jordan and Stixx to name just a few. So if you live in York or are going to York- Fest don’t let this opportunity pass you by and make sure to get to a RBW event. For more information go to: RevolutionBritishWrestling.co.uk.

Now here is a bit for all the ladies out there, I must have some female admirers, well I will settle for female readers at the least. Are you training to be a wrestler or maybe you’re a wrestler already? If any of those are the case you need to contact NWA-UK as they are holding an 8 woman wrestling tournament from their training facility in Sittingbourne. The tournament will take place in one day and has prize money up to £200. The tournament is a submission tournament with limited rules no punching, kicking, gouging, scratching, biting. Slapping, hairpulling etc allowed. So if this still sounds like your cup of tea email: nwauk@hammerlockwrestling.com for information on how to sing up for the tournament.

Would just like to end my column this week by welcoming Sovereign Championship Wrestling to the Talk Wrestling Online family. They now have their official forum hosted at Talk Wrestling Online, so be sure to check it out. On top of that if you are new to SCW be sure to check out my round table interview with some of their main protagonists here.

Once your done with all that remember to check out the latest Tenet by Saracen and Future-Shock by Scott Future and keep your eyes glued to your inbox for the next TWO newsletter filled with UK Scene news

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
