Welcome one and all to another weekly dose of my UK Scene ramblings. This week has been a huge one for IPW:UK as they have announced some huge plans for their expansion which I will be discussing at great lengths. Promotions also making the news this week include RBW with their training seminar and FCW with their latest event. So sit back, relax and get ready for another ramble.

So it is of course IPW:UK with which we start this week and what a week they have had. Last weekend I commented on the success of their latest event but not even I thought it would be at the beginning of a week like this for them. Now when IPW:UK first started many were quick to doubt Daniel Edler after some poor turn outs and because of his age. Dan unlike many though stuck to his goals and kept producing shows even though he must have been losing money which not many people would be willing to do.

His patience and determination are finally starting to pay off for him though as he welcomes big crowds to the Orpington Halls in Kent for his regular shows and this week business took another turn for the better. Dan started the week announcing his first double header called “The Weekend of Champions” which comes to us from the Orpington Halls in Kent over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of July. There are many promotions in the UK which just run one off shows so this was a good sign of intent by the young promoter. The weekend will also include a fan convention which not many promotions do.

This wasn’t all though as later this week Dan announced that they will be promoting their first show outside of the Orpington Halls called “New Territory” on July 23rd from the St. Michaels Church Hall in Essex. This is a huge step for any promoter as it can be like starting from square one again but if Dan puts the effort in that he has in Kent this should hopefully become another successful venue to run regularly.

If all of that wasn’t enough to get you interested Dan has brought some incredible talent in for the “Weekend of Champions” Jonny Storm will be making his return to the IPW:UK ring and making his IPW:UK debut will be son of the British Bulldog, 18 year old Harry Smith, so it looks set to be a huge weekend of action. We here at Wrestling101 take our hats off to Dan and wish him every success with his new ventures.

RBW are holding one of their biggest training sessions to date this weekend as D’lo Brown steps in the ring to put the RBW newcomers through their paces. This weekend of action from the Ryan Hall in London also includes a live event in the evening on the Saturday (4/06). On Sunday the RBW bus rolls in to Hampshire as they run another training session this time lead by Doug Williams and the UK Kid at Brune Park School.

FCW brought to us their latest event “Breaking point” last weekend and what a show it was as Celebrity Wrestling trainer Joe Legend stepped in to the FCW ring to take on Kevin O’Neil and Laken Xander for the FCW title. Stars on the show included Spud, Aviv Mayaan and the return on Celt Kennedy. Good work guys.

Since his run as presenter of The Bagpipe Report on The Wrestling Channel Blake Norton has started to increase his activity in the UK grapple game. Not content with starting up his own gym in Ireland, Blake is doing a lot of work for 3CW. In his first show in England for six months he suffered his first pinfall defeat in the country for over a year at the hands of Jayson Mayson in a tag match. Not happy with the outcome of the match Blake has secured a match against Jayson on June 10th in Billingham. The card also featured GBH, General Trent Steel and a host of other recognisable names.

Last weekend FWA went and committed daylight robbery in WAW’s own backyard. They took the first ever British Inter-Federation Cup and the WAW Heavyweight title in one night in Bournemouth. WAW had arranged the Cup competition and FWA were guests of WAW on a WAW show but this didn’t stop team FWA as they took the trophy. To add insult to injury “The Showstealer” Alex Shane took the WAW heavyweight title from the Dark Angel “Ashe” so it was a bad night all round for WAW. All of this on WAW’s debut in Bournemouth, who knows what will happen next in this inter promotion rivalry.

EWW this week releases some information on their next big show Cruel Britannia. The show will take place on September 16th from the Palace Nightclub in Oxford. It has been announced that this will be one of the few EWW events that won’t feature EWW champion Frankie Capone as he has been banned from the show due to incidents which went down at “Rage.” Chris O’Regan has informed us though that it will still be a night to remember and will be releasing more information shortly.

The FWA Celebrity Carnage tour went down last week and it has been greeted by many positive posts on the internet from people who went to the shows. It’s good to see as hopefully it will encourage FWA to run more tours, I just hope the attendance figures were good which I have yet to have confirmed to me. A big well done to everyone that was involved in that. The FW have a mini-tour lined up for the end of July which will see them doing a double header on July 30th and 31st and it has just been announced that Colt Cobana will be featuring on both shows.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
