UK Scene #258

By: Saz
19 June 2007

Wrestling 101 UK Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

Welcome to the interactive UK Scene with your friendly neighbourhood Saz.

Firstly the sad news of Sweet Saraya's injury, dubbed 'The first lady of UK wrestling', Saraya has been entertaining wrestling fans across the country along with her husband Ricky Knight. There are sketchy details about, but the draught of it is that a calamity of events, a ripped coke can severing off her kneecap, her opponent's inability to spot the injury and failure by the ref and ambulance crew to deal with the situation.

A calamity which could end the career of a well respected wrestler, but let's hope it's not the case!

If you want to leave well wishing messages try this thread here.

Rumours have it that RQW are going to be the UK office for the WWE, but until they become something more substantial, it's probably best to leave it at speculation, though if you want to speculate you can do so right here.

Oh and congrats to wZw for their tv deal. Forum thread is here.

If you want to see and discuss the results of the Top 50, join in at this thread now.

If you are a booker or promoter and would like to add your promotion info here. If it helps get more interest to your shows from the casual web browser, then we're all better off.

What we do care about in all aspects of the UK Scene is your opinion, especially the paying punter, so if you have a say you are more than welcome to express it, whether it is a popular opinion or not.

And Finally...

Makes you think long and hard when something that seems so trivial can ruin a person's wrestling career.

You have to acknowledge the risks each time you walk the walk to the ring and trust in people's ability to do their job and know their role.

It just takes one bolt missing, or one lack of attention to destroy a wrestler, remember that next time you watch them.

You can read my latest blog here.

Take care,

Saz

ST: Do not talk to me about fake
By Saz on 6 January 2008
There’s a saying in wrestling. The person who says that wrestling is fake knows nothing about wrestling at all. Say fake to people like Chris Benoit whose “fake” concussions turned him insane, say fake to Sid whose leg broke in half after the merest of falls, say fake to every single wrestler who has been through agony [...]
ST: What does TV do for the UK Scene?
By Saz on 27 November 2007
Being a professional wrestler can be such an enjoyable experience, yet, sometimes such a frustrating one. There is that old school opinion that wrestling is built from respect and that your time and your actions deserve the opportunities that you get. I know my place in the scheme of things, I have my rung on the [...]
ST: Time to get the attitude right
By Saz on 22 September 2007
You know, when I came back from Spain, a few things dawned on me. The first being how stuck up our own arses we Brits are. Bear with me on this, I am going somewhere with this.
 ST: Viva l?Espania!
By Saz on 18 August 2007
Howdo, Your friendly neighbourhood Saz here, coming to you live from Tarragona, that would be on the South coast of Spain for all you non geography types. Yup, ole Sazza is sitting here supping Cevesa enjoying the sand, sea, sun, sangria and senoritas!
 ST: More wrestler ramblings
By Saz on 22 July 2007
I mentioned in the UK scene that I think that British wrestling is beginning to carve out a niche of its own, separate to the direct influence of the Americans. There will always be influence of course, that can’t be denied a good idea that works should always be used and the great thing about the [...]
