A Small Introduction: The Future Starts Here

18 December 2003

Wrestling 101 UK Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

I must say it’s great to be a part of Wrestling 101 and will endeavour to provide a weekly column that’s going to feature not the ramblings from a know it all, in a lonely bedroom, but inside knowledge of a sport you come on here to learn about. I am coming to you from the perspective of not just writing what I think to be true, but rather what I have reasoned to be true through blood, sweat and yes, literally tears gained on this world we call pro wrestling. And hey, if you don’t agree with my points, you can always debate them with me by email so that I can add your contributions here… I’m never closed to others points of view.

With the influx of the “shoot interview” let me say that this article is not going to be my public notice board for venting frustrations or conflicts but rather a place to give positive criticism where due… even if that includes bashing myself where necessary. I, like everyone else, still have much to learn and I’m not too egomaniacal to forget that… but there are a half dozen promotions and even more individuals who will attest that I am one of the most reliable and professional members of this business here in the UK… that’s got to be a good basis to build on and I hope together we can use this column as a journey so always feel free to email me with praise (yes please!) and positive criticism (yes “positive criticism”) so that I can deliver a text each week that you will clamour (or at least be bothered) to read. Heck if you want to send me abuse you can do that too… think of it as my role in healing the community… just don’t expect a reply if you cant be constructive in your writings.

You may remember me as “Mr William” from WrestleXpress hype, or you may know me as I am most established, as Scott Future, the man who has wrestled in the UK, Ireland and America, or you may not know me at all. Well, its not like I’m on Big Brother or anything!

Either way my hope is to involve you all on here as I bring the “Future-Shock” to wrestling101. I’d like to thank Adam Sibley for his involvement in bringing me in to the site, and hope to do him proud. 2003 was a wild year as all my wrestling years have been since 1997, and already things are going topsy-turvy in a way that’s going to make 2004 very interesting indeed. I hope to use this space as a way of keeping you up to date on me, from my point of view, as well as everything I encounter that you might be interested in such as some very funny road stories and ribs, and memories that 6 years in wrestling has given me.

In the next “edition” and first “proper column” I’m going to talk a little about the things I’m already involved with in 2004 and make some observations about the kind of year 2003 was for me, and wrestling in general in the UK. Ill try to make it a smooth ride so please come back and Ill see you next week. If you have some time to kill why not check me out at my site at http://www.newmediabiz.com/scottfuture or email me at ScottF@Wrestling101.com and I hope your plans for the approaching Christmas go as well as they can go for you! Cheers for now, Scott.

Scott Future

ST: Do not talk to me about fake
By Saz on 6 January 2008
There’s a saying in wrestling. The person who says that wrestling is fake knows nothing about wrestling at all. Say fake to people like Chris Benoit whose “fake” concussions turned him insane, say fake to Sid whose leg broke in half after the merest of falls, say fake to every single wrestler who has been through agony [...]
ST: What does TV do for the UK Scene?
By Saz on 27 November 2007
Being a professional wrestler can be such an enjoyable experience, yet, sometimes such a frustrating one. There is that old school opinion that wrestling is built from respect and that your time and your actions deserve the opportunities that you get. I know my place in the scheme of things, I have my rung on the [...]
ST: Time to get the attitude right
By Saz on 22 September 2007
You know, when I came back from Spain, a few things dawned on me. The first being how stuck up our own arses we Brits are. Bear with me on this, I am going somewhere with this.
 ST: Viva l?Espania!
By Saz on 18 August 2007
Howdo, Your friendly neighbourhood Saz here, coming to you live from Tarragona, that would be on the South coast of Spain for all you non geography types. Yup, ole Sazza is sitting here supping Cevesa enjoying the sand, sea, sun, sangria and senoritas!
 ST: More wrestler ramblings
By Saz on 22 July 2007
I mentioned in the UK scene that I think that British wrestling is beginning to carve out a niche of its own, separate to the direct influence of the Americans. There will always be influence of course, that can’t be denied a good idea that works should always be used and the great thing about the [...]
