UFC 35-38 DVD Overview

25 March 2004

Wrestling 101 UK Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

This month UFCVideo have released 4 back catalogue titles on to DVD for the first time. Those being their first 4 video releases UFC 35 through to 38. These classic events have only been available up until now on VHS but thanks to those good people down at UFCVideo they have now released them to buy on DVD. This means now every title at UFCVideo is available to buy on DVD or VHS.

I reviewed some of these titles when they were released on video two years ago so have delved through the archives to find my comments on the events.

UFC 35

ufc35 coverThis event was better than any other combat, fighting or martial arts I had ever seen. The action was fast moving the way it was presented was innovating with in ring interviews and no hyping up matches before hand with video packages just letting the action speak for itself. The girls, lights and pyrotechnics made it a complete show and helped on the entertainment side. Even the referees seemed to have personality and weren’t afraid to get in to the action and break it up if they thought it had become inactive. I would highly recommend this video as never once was my finger reaching for the fast forward button, hard hitting action at its best.

UFC 36

ufc36 coverThis event was the complete polished event outside the octagon with video packages, entrances as well as more commentator segments. Although this may not appeal to the hardcore UFC fan who just want the action it did compensate for the unpredictable shortness of fights. I thought this video was a good way to ease people in to UFC with high paced action lots of knockouts and a complete show you cannot ask for more than that. I think something in between the presentation of UFC 35 and 36 would make for the ultimate watching experience as you need to find a balance between in octagon action and outside segments. Still another awesome video produced by UFC.

UFC 38

This event marked a history making night and what a night of action it was. The event had a distinct British feel to it which it is a credit to the UFC. This could be the start of a big UK involvement with UFC but only time will tell. An entertaining video with some good matches thrown in to the mix.

Be sure to click the links to read my full thoughts on some of the new releases but I hope just those little segments have wet the appetite enough for you go to purchase one of these excellent events on DVD. If you didn’t purchase them the first time around what excuse have you got left now?

The only negative point on these releases is unfortunately there are no DVD extras which we have come accustom to with UFC DVD releases but we can’t hold that against them as they usually are jam packed with extras and lets face it the main reason you buy a DVD is for the event itself. You do benefit though from the improved audio and visual quality as well as being safe in the knowledge you will be able to watch the events as many times as you like for years to come without the quality fading.

My favourite has to be of course UFC 35 it was the first UFC event I watched in its entirety and it was that event that got me hooked on UFC. For me that event didn’t have a bad match and had a lot going on to engross a new viewer to the sport. So if you’re new to UFC I would certainly suggest UFC 35. If knockout action is what you are looking for go for UFC 36 and if you’re feeling patriotic I would certainly suggest UFC 38. There is a title in that collection to suit any fans needs.

All of these releases and more are now available at ufcvideo.com so be sure to drop by and have a look at the releases currently available. The DVD’s I have just been talking about are very much value for money as they are currently priced at £11.24 so be sure to go and pick up a piece of history on DVD.
