ST: June thoughts

Life always takes strange twists and turns, and it seems that my life is no exception, I have always had to be mindful of my position, not only here but in the wrestling world, yup, sometimes I have been on the wrong side of a dressing down due to what I have said.

I know sometimes I am cryptic in my comments, they are purposefully so, so I think once again that it is a shift of prose to talk about the good things that have happened to me, instead of concentrating on the negative. There is too much negativity in wrestling already, without me adding to it.

So here we go.

I am very glad I have met Carl Mizzery, not only do we share similar philosophies but he is never afraid to tell me when he thinks I am wrong and pushes me to be the best wrestler I can be.

I am very glad to have met Saul Adams, who is, in my opinion, one of the warmest guys in wrestling and such a raw potential. He listens to what people have to say and I think that is a very strong characteristic in a wrestler, he WILL go very far.

I'm very glad I have worked for MPW and LPW, the workers there are a great bunch of guys and I watch their careers from afar (for personal reasons), but I still see how you are doing guys! You will never receive instant acceptance like you had there.

I am very glad to have met Blondie Barratt, who, through very personal hard times gave me the best piece of advice about wrestling. If he asked me to I would work for him in a second.

I am very glad I met Abbas Rezedezeh, whose ideas are very novel, but he gave me probably one of the greatest experiences in my life.

A kid, about as high as my knee, hug me and say "You are the greatest wrestler in the world, I love you!". If you ever want a reason to become a professional wrestler, then that was it. It made all the struggle of training and learning ever so much easier!

I bet every wrestler has a moment like that, that reminds them when times are hard.

Being a heavy, heavy man, I get stigmatised. It is a well known "fact" that big men don't bump. It is a stigmatism I have longed to prove to people is a falacy, I know there are big wrestlers who choose not to bump for whatever reason that may be, but the ones who earn respect in this industry do.

I believe, ever since I began wrestling, that I have no excuse of size and I can do everything I can to work with my opponent.

I often wonder if any success I might be fortunate to have will ever get to my head. I'd like to hope not, it has happened to people I know, but then again, people change, or they were always like that, it just takes time to find the real them.

As a final note, Steve Logan told me once that Lichfield has a great wrestler fan base. I like to be transparent about KSW and really felt for Enots when they told me about the license problems. Not doing a show was in the short an inconvenience, but I have been told that they are arranging a coach to come visit us at our replacement venue.

Our shows at Enots have really pushed KSW forwards, I'll be honest, we are not the biggest promotion at the moment, but with fans who are prepared to follow us around, I hope we can give them every moments pleasure.

It is sports entertainment after all, and that's what the fans deserve.

ST: Do not talk to me about fake
By Saz on 6 January 2008
There’s a saying in wrestling. The person who says that wrestling is fake knows nothing about wrestling at all. Say fake to people like Chris Benoit whose “fake” concussions turned him insane, say fake to Sid whose leg broke in half after the merest of falls, say fake to every single wrestler who has been through agony [...]
ST: What does TV do for the UK Scene?
By Saz on 27 November 2007
Being a professional wrestler can be such an enjoyable experience, yet, sometimes such a frustrating one. There is that old school opinion that wrestling is built from respect and that your time and your actions deserve the opportunities that you get. I know my place in the scheme of things, I have my rung on the [...]
ST: Time to get the attitude right
By Saz on 22 September 2007
You know, when I came back from Spain, a few things dawned on me. The first being how stuck up our own arses we Brits are. Bear with me on this, I am going somewhere with this.
 ST: Viva l?Espania!
By Saz on 18 August 2007
Howdo, Your friendly neighbourhood Saz here, coming to you live from Tarragona, that would be on the South coast of Spain for all you non geography types. Yup, ole Sazza is sitting here supping Cevesa enjoying the sand, sea, sun, sangria and senoritas!
 ST: More wrestler ramblings
By Saz on 22 July 2007
I mentioned in the UK scene that I think that British wrestling is beginning to carve out a niche of its own, separate to the direct influence of the Americans. There will always be influence of course, that can’t be denied a good idea that works should always be used and the great thing about the [...]
