T3C: WWE Unforgiven 2005 Preview

18 September 2005

Wrestling 101 US Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

Will Bischoff be Unforgiven?

Aha a WWE PPV that I can actually see, they come along as often as England winning against Australia as cricket – sorry but it won’t last. If you’re American you won’t have a clue what cricket is, think baseball with class! Anyway, time to preview the latest Raw PPV which isn’t quite as classy as Vengeance and I bet the buy rates will show that.

WWE Title: John Cena v Kurt Angle

Angle is at the top of his game at the moment but will that lead him to the WWE Title at Unforgiven? Bishcoff certainly hopes so, if he could he’d get Ashley a title shot against Cena if he thought he could screw him out of the title. However, as much as I hate Cena (and I do), I feel he’ll keep the belt this Sunday but sooner or later…

The build-up has been pretty boring to say the least. The same old Eric bemoaning the fact he hasn’t got dark hair anymore and instead has a dark mood as he tries to get the belt off Cena. Isn’t it obvious that soon the WWE board will have a go at him and Foley or Austin will return? For Jericho and Carlito, read Angle and Tomko, it’s the same mix of in-ring attacks, a bit of homophobia from Cena and an inevitable handicap match. Surely the creative team has something better than this? I go for Cena to win but probably by an Angle DQ.

IC Title: Carlito v Ric Flair

It’s going to happen, it honestly is, Carlito is going to defend the IC title on TV and it’s against a man in his 50’s. OK it’s Ric Flair but what is the whole point of this? The IC Title has been used as a stepping stone for wrestlers such as Michaels, Savage and Ultimate Warrior, on their way to greater things. That could apply to Carlito if he actually bothered to wrestle more, but what will it say if Flair becomes IC Champ? I feel this is just a prelude to something far bigger, in fact a completely different Game, yes ‘THE GAME’. October sees the return of Triple H but could he be back this Sunday to help Triple C? Talk is of a new DX with the possible return of X-Pac who might even show up for a PPV and could Michaels turn again? Or possibly how about a new Evolution of Triple H, Triple C and Chris Masters? I go for Carlito to keep the belt but how, I’m not sure but it won’t be clean I can tell you that.

Tag Titles: Hurricane and Rosey v Cade and Murdoch

Now here’s where the title change comes. Amazingly the tag titles are being defended on a PPV rather than Heat. I still feel very uncomfortable when the Hurricane music plays (just what are his super powers apart from an amazing ability to job?) but his title reign will end on Sunday. Cade and Murdoch are nothing special that’s for sure and the cowboy gimmick is an ancient one. I go for them to win and then feud with Venis and Viscera, so help us God.

Shawn Michaels v Chris Masters

So the big Masters push continues and Michaels goes from main event to helping push a rookie. Masters has just one move and once that gets broken what does he have left? Michaels is hilarious, if not a fool, on the mic these days and of course still has great ability in the ring. Not sure what’s going to happen here, but I have a feeling that there might be some outside interference here. I go for a Michaels win but the master lock reputation will live for another day.

Steel Cage: Matt Hardy v Edge

The feud continues and so does the belittling of Matt Hardy. Since Summerslam he’s lost to Conway (who’s probably bound to be on Heat) and even been kicked in the balls by Lita, not to mention nearly getting ‘killed’ in that street fight with Edge. Has Vince got it in for the guy who earns him money but causes problems with his mouth? Possibly and we’ll probably know for sure if Edge gets a convincing win here. Dare I even think of the moment when Lita turns on Edge and goes back with Matt? It could happen someday and possibly even Sunday. This should be a good match and blood is guaranteed but with Edge still having that title shot I feel he’ll get the momentum yet again, what then for Matt eh?

Trish and Ashley v Torrie and Victoria

At last Trish is back and we never did see her stripped of the women’s title for not defending it. No title shots here but the woman I feel sorry for is Victoria as this surely must be leading up to a Trish v Torrie feud over the belt while Victoria probably has just Ashley to face and Candice just looks pretty. At least three of the girls can wrestle. It’s a shame that in a split second Trish turned face after all the work put into her as a heel. I go for a dodgy win by Torrie and Victoria, though I’d love to see Trish turn on Ashley and all three beat her up!

Big Show v Snitsky

Oh heck, two slow big guys and a boring foot fetish storyline. Not much to say about this, so I go for a Big Show win but where does he go from here? Kane is a possibility I suppose.

It’s not a bad card but with the women’s match, Big Show v Snitsky and the tag title match that’s three possible stinkers so I doubt I’d be unforgiven for saying this might not be a classic PPV.

CBlog XXVIII- No Mercy, RAW and Cyber Sunday
By Cassidy Haslett on 8 October 2008
I know it’s been a little while since I’ve done a blog, but I’m back to give my thoughts on No Mercy, RAW, and the upcoming Cyber Sunday pay-per-view on October 26 (which, coincidentally, is CM Punk’s birthday and he is also the featured star on the poster). Let’s start with this past Sunday’s No Mercy [...]

I did not post a blog last week because I did not feel that RAW was really worth posting a blog about. It was okay, but nothing much to discuss. This week, there is a bit more to discuss and I also wanted to provide my thoughts on SmackDown and the current line-up for No [...]
CBlog XXVI- Thoughts on WWE Unforgiven 2008
By Cassidy Haslett on 9 September 2008
The 10′th WWE Unforgiven in Cleveland was just awesome and worth the $39.95 I paid. Sure, every match was not great, but I look at the overall when I judge a pay-per-view. Here are my thoughts on Unforgiven:
CBlog XXV- WWE RAW, Rey and Unforgiven
By Cassidy Haslett on 2 September 2008
RAW was average to me this week. Granted, it may have been better had there not been spoilers on every single wrestling site or in every wrestling email I got after RAW was taped this past Sunday. It was nice to see Randy Orton make an appearance on RAW, even though it would have been [...]
CBlog XXIV- WWE RAW, Unforgiven & Cena?s Injury
By Cassidy Haslett on 26 August 2008
Let me start off with the unfortunate news - John Cena has a severely herniated disc in his neck and will require surgery, leaving him out of action, indefinitely. The probability of him making another early return seems very unlikely. With Cena gone from television for who knows how long, I for one will certainly [...]
