NJPW ran its Strong Conviction show in Kobe today with two IWGP title matches and also a tag tournement worth 10m in Yen to the winners. Here are the results...

NJPW "STRONG CONVICTION IN KOBE", 10/24/04
Kobe World Hall
6,000 Fans - No Vacancy

1. 3/5 Falls: Jushin Thunder Liger, Jado, Gedo & Katsushi Takemura beat Ryusuke Taguchi, Hirooki Goto, Katsuhiko Nakajima & Taiji Ishimori (21:00). Takemura used the M9 on Nakajima (8:29). Liger used a brainbuster on Taguchi (12:17). Ishimori used a Superstar elbow on Jado (18:34). Jado used the Crossface of JADO on Ishimori (21:00).
2. El Samurai & Wataru Inoue beat Yutaka Yoshie & Yujiro (8:54) when Inoue used a single-leg crab hold on Yujiro.
3. Super Love Machine & Love Machine Arashi beat Tatsutoshi Goto & Toru Yano (5:50) when Arashi used a Devil Windmill suplex hold on Goto.
4. Minoru Suzuki & Tiger Mask beat Osamu Nishimura & James Gibson (13:48) when Suzuki used an Octopus hold on Gibson.
5. President Hoshino 10,000,000 Offer Tag Tournament - Semi Final: Masahiro Chono & Katsuyori Shibata beat Genichiro Tenryu & Kensuke Sasaki (17:53) when Shibata used an FK on Tenryu.
6. President Hoshino 10,000,000 Offer Tag Tournament - Semi Final: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Shinsuke Nakamura beat Toshiaki Kawada & Mitsuya Nagai (20:53) when Nakamura used a standing cross armbreaker on Nagai.
7. U-30 Openweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) beat American Dragon (16:16) with a Dragon suplex hold (11th defense).
8. Yuji Nagata & Blue Wolf beat Manabu Nakanishi & Scott Norton (18:25) when Wolf used a lariat on Nakanishi.
9. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: Heat (c) vs. Koji Kanemoto went to a double KO (19:24) (9th defense).
10. President Hoshino 10,000,000 Offer Tag Tournament - Final: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Shinsuke Nakamura beat Masahiro Chono & Katsuyori Shibata (19:28) when Tenzan pinned Chono after the Ten-Naka Koroshi.

The Jurassic Powers where finally beaten today by Nagata and Wolf. It was Nakanishi that dropped the fall as he fell to Blue Wolfs devasting lariat.

After much specualtion Tanaka turned up in his mask as Heat to face off against enemy Kanemoto in his record breaking 9th defense of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title. The match was said to be a wild one and ended in a double KO draw which allowed Heat to retain and break Ligers defense record of 8.

Tenzan and Nakamura won the tag tournement to place themshelves in the Tag title firing line. First they disposed of Kawada and Nagai as Nagai tapped to Nakamura's Standing Cross Armbreaker. They faced off against Shibata and Chono as they had disposed of Kensuke and Tenryu earlier (with Shibata finally geting a pin on Tenryu with an FK). Tenzan got the win over former mentor and now hated foe Chono after the Ten-Naka Koroshi (described in previous post). This also strengthens Tenzan's claim at the IWGP title shot he is owed for his G-1 Climax win.
