FWA NEW FRONTIERS NEWS UPDATE 2/2/05

SOUTH CITY $HILLER

We can exclusively reveal that FWA All-England Champion ‘The South City Thrilla’ Hade Vansen has been in talks with The Wrestling Channel about appearing on the upcoming TWC Supershow: International Showdown.

The March 19 supershow from Coventry SkyDome already features FWA talent such as ‘The Anarchist’ Doug Williams, ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm, Hade’s partner-in-crime ‘The Showstealer’ Alex Shane and his opponent in an upcoming All-England Title defence at FWA New Frontiers on February 26, Spud.  Our contacts within the TWC office told us that since all these top FWA names were invited to be part of International Showdown, Hade has been feeling a little left out.  Apparently the All-England Champion made the first move during these negotiations, rather than wait for TWC to contact him, and has been selling himself furiously to TWC bosses.  It is believed Hade was provoked into making a bid to appear on International Showdown when he found out that Spud had been booked.  ‘The Thriller’ was said to have flown into a rage and telephoned the TWC office immediately, arguing that as – in his mind - the top star of FWA TV on The Wrestling Channel, a small-screen idol and the reason why all the ladies tune in to TWC – he should have been given priority over “that Busted reject”, as he calls his number one contender.

But in reality, many believe that Hade is bitter towards Spud who, if you recall, eliminated the All-England Champion from the Gold Rush event in November in embarrassingly rapid fashion. Also, Spud has been on an absolute roll of late, after winning the Next Generation Three-Way at British Uprising and his impressive showing in the Gold Rush and surely thoroughly deserves his place in the Fatal Four-Way Match at International Showdown, where he will take on Jonny Storm and overseas stars Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt.

Hade and Alex Shane are also believed to have been rankled by suggestions that after New Frontiers is put to bed, that Fatal Four-Way match at International Showdown could actually feature both the FWA British Heavyweight Champion and the FWA All-England Champion, should Jonny Storm defeat ‘The Showstealer’ on February 26 and Spud do the same to Vansen.

We at www.frontierwrestling.com understand that despite Hade’s eagerness to be part of the SkyDome line-up, TWC bookers have not yet agreed to his request and are making him sweat.  This has only added to ‘The Lady Killer’s frustration towards Spud and his private determination to make the 140lb Human Thunderbolt pay dearly at Broxbourne on February 26.

FWA TV IS BACK!

The Season 2 premiere of FWA TV will be this Friday night (February 4) at 9pm on The Wrestling Channel (Sky Digital channel 427).

This magazine-style show will be presented by Tony Giles with match commentary from Dann Read and Nick London, and will include the tag team match pitting ‘The Anarchist’ Doug Williams and Ulf Herman v Stixx and Joe E Legend from the recent FWA Gold Rush event.

The first four episodes of FWA TV will feature matches from Gold Rush, culminating in the Gold Rush Battle Royal itself on the Friday, February 25 edition of the show, just 24 hours before New Frontiers itself.  It should be a mouthwatering way to lead in to the FWA’s first show of 2005.

BEEF AND ONIONS FOR SHANE

FWA British Heavyweight Champion ‘The Showstealer’ Alex Shane is said to still be extremely concerned over the possible threat of his arch-rival Ulf Herman at New Frontiers, even though the German monster is banned from the building.

So worried is the champ that Herman may attempt to defy the ban, that he has reportedly recruited extra security for the night of February 26, when he puts the FWA Title on the line for the first time against Jonny Storm.  In fact, we understand that Shane has gone to the extremes of hiring some of the meanest, biggest, baddest, beefiest individuals from the UK wrestling scene to watch his back at Broxbourne.

As of yet, ‘The Showstealer’ is refusing to name his new hired muscle.  We may have to wait until Broxbourne to discover their identities.

Speaking of Alex Shane, the champion remains in high demand for TV appearances and just today filmed an episode of the popular Sky One science programme Brainiac.

For those of you who enjoy seeing Alex in embarrassing situations, we at www.frontierwrestling.com have managed to acquire inside information on the filming of this episode, despite the usually publicity-hungry Shane’s attempts to keep it hush-hush.  Apparently, Alex’s scene involves him wearing an apron, peeling onions and crying his eyes out in front of the camera.  We also believe that prima donna Shane refused to do the take unless he was allowed to wear his FWA British Heavyweight Championship belt over his pinny.

This sounds like an extremely entertaining episode of Brainiac for all fans, and enemies, of the FWA Champion.  As soon as we know an air date for the show, we will inform you right here on www.frontierwrestling.com

IDOL ENTERS INVITATIONAL
Jamie Idol has become the latest up-and-comer from UK wrestling to sign up for the ground-breaking FWA Open Door Invitational at New Frontiers.

Idol is a protégé of FWA’s very own Stevie Knight and this talented rookie has impressed in matches for the IWP promotion in Hull recently, showing off his high-flying and technical skills in front of large crowds.  So the FWA faithful – who get to decide which two of the Open Invitational hopefuls will wrestle later that evening – may not intimidate this level-headed youngster.

Remember – the FWA Open Door Invitational works as follows: On the night of New Frontiers, all the non-FWA talent will come down to the ring and the FWA fans – through volume of cheers - will get to choose which two of them compete in an actual wrestling match. The remaining wrestlers will go home. An independent adjudicator will be assigned to determine which two wrestlers receive the loudest ovations from the Broxbourne crowd.  We at www.frontierwrestling.com understand that this independent adjudicator/host for the FWA Open Door Invitational has been selected and will be revealed on the night of New Frontiers.

This Open Door Invitational will be a great chance for two young UK talents to impress FWA scouts and also a truly interactive experience for FWA fans, who can select for themselves which two exciting up-and-comers they would like to see compete in an FWA ring.

The FWA is still inviting applications for the FWA Open Door Invitational.  So if you are a UK wrestler, with four years of professional wrestling experience or less, and you would like to be considered for the FWA Open Door Invitational on February 26 at Broxbourne Civic Hall, then please send an e-mail entitled ‘FWA Open Door Invitational’ to info@frontierwrestling.com stating your name, your age and the promotions you have worked for.  The closing date for applications is Friday February 18.

Who gets to wrestle?  You decide!
