PTW: First PTW Heavyweight Champion To Be Crowned On October 27th
by Devilish Angel on 1 October 2007 11:51 am

Wrestling 101 UK Scene RSS Feed | Feeds

Thanks to Power Trip Wrestling for sending the following in:

Power Trip Wrestling are proud to announce our next show will be on Saturday October 27th, as we present the tournament to crown the FIRST EVER PTW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! The card, as ever, is subject to change.

But the big news that everyone is talking about is Luton's very own legend, Johnny Kidd, is returning to Luton. He last appeared here on December 28th 1990 at the High Town Recreation Centre; which was then known as the Drill Hall. The match was for Dale Martin Promotions and was a tag team attraction with Johnny teaming with no less than Big Daddy, against Count Von Zuppi and Rasputin. It has been seventeen long years since this man wrestled in Luton, and Power Trip Wrestling are honoured and thrilled to have him appear for us. Here in PTW, respect for tradition and professional wrestling's past is high on the agenda. But the question is : At age 52, could the impossible happen and could Johnny Kidd win a Heavyweight Title in his home town?

Announced so far :

1st Round PTW Heavyweight Title Tournament Match : -  Johnny Kidd  VS  Gangster

"World of Sport" Legend Johnny Kidd, will make a rare appearance in his home town of Luton. Johnny recently celebrated 30 years in professional wrestling, which was acknowledged by PTW in May; with a presentation ceremony. Johnny, despite his ever present modesty, is a model professional and respected worldwide; and is here in Power Trip Wrestling at the request of PTW Owner Peter Staniforth. Johnny has wrestled in such countries as Germany, Holland, Malta, and has had such legendary opponents as Steve Grey, Johnny Saint, and 'Cyanide' Sid Cooper.....and Saturday October 27th will see Johnny Kidd come back to his home town of Luton to wrestle. Gangster, on the other hand, is loud, abusive; and stands arrogantly against everything Peter believes in; and is relishing what he sees as his chance to anger Peter AND defeat a legend at the same time.

1st Round PTW Heavyweight Title Tournament Match : -  Shabazz  VS  Keego Ward

It's fair to call him PTW's most popular wrestler. A title holder in other promotions around the country. A man who truly embodies the term 'fan favourite'. All these descriptions and more, can all be used to describe Shabazz. But facing him is former Irish Whip Wrestling (IWW) star, Keego Ward. Keego is an offensive character, an angry Irishman to say the least; and one who is not shy of showing his backside to those who he doesn't consider worthy of being near him. A total clash of personalities in this match, one that is sure to be loud!

OTHER MATCHES :

PTW Hardcore Title On The Line - PTW Owner Peter Staniforth to be at ringside - Last Man Standing In Luton Rules : -  Jim Brooks (c)  VS  American All-Star  VS  Frantastic  VS  Leon X

At PTW's show in September, both American All-Star AND Frantastic pinned Leon X in the triple threat match. X would then call out long time friend and PTW Owner, Peter Staniforth to make some kind of decision as to what should happen; and Peter's call was to put all four men into one match on October 27th. Anything goes in this one, anything can happen; and it's realistic to say that anything WILL happen. All sorts of weapons, all kinds of craziness, mayhem, havoc, and mischief - with the PTW Owner himself out at ringside too. Will Peter be impartial? Will his infamously hotheaded streak rise to the fore if provoked? Or will hell just break out in Luton? The last question, isn't really a question - that one's sure to happen!

CRUISERWEIGHT ISSUES!

In August, G 'The Ghetto Superstar' became the first ever PTW Cruiserweight champion by defeating Dan Ryder. After the match, Ryder would turn on the fans, and on his friend with a vicious shot to the head with the title belt. In September, Dan Ryder made short G's title reign, and became the new champion! October 27th sees both men 'phone a friend' and acquire a tag team partner. G 'The Ghetto Superstar' has called in the services of Geraden, and Dan Ryder has contacted no less than the recently returned to professional wrestling Danny Devine; and we will see a tag team match with a lot of personal feelings and anger in it.

ST: Do not talk to me about fake
By Saz on 6 January 2008
There’s a saying in wrestling. The person who says that wrestling is fake knows nothing about wrestling at all. Say fake to people like Chris Benoit whose “fake” concussions turned him insane, say fake to Sid whose leg broke in half after the merest of falls, say fake to every single wrestler who has been through agony [...]
ST: What does TV do for the UK Scene?
By Saz on 27 November 2007
Being a professional wrestler can be such an enjoyable experience, yet, sometimes such a frustrating one. There is that old school opinion that wrestling is built from respect and that your time and your actions deserve the opportunities that you get. I know my place in the scheme of things, I have my rung on the [...]
ST: Time to get the attitude right
By Saz on 22 September 2007
You know, when I came back from Spain, a few things dawned on me. The first being how stuck up our own arses we Brits are. Bear with me on this, I am going somewhere with this.
 ST: Viva l?Espania!
By Saz on 18 August 2007
Howdo, Your friendly neighbourhood Saz here, coming to you live from Tarragona, that would be on the South coast of Spain for all you non geography types. Yup, ole Sazza is sitting here supping Cevesa enjoying the sand, sea, sun, sangria and senoritas!
 ST: More wrestler ramblings
By Saz on 22 July 2007
I mentioned in the UK scene that I think that British wrestling is beginning to carve out a niche of its own, separate to the direct influence of the Americans. There will always be influence of course, that can’t be denied a good idea that works should always be used and the great thing about the [...]
