Detailed Results

One week after a questionable disqualification victory over Big Show to retain the World Heavyweight Title, the show kicks off with World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. The champion states that being the World Heavyweight Champion is his “dream” and defending the title is what he “lives for”. Bryan continues that he successfully defended the title against Big Show last week before saying that Big Show deserves his rematch, adding that he is a “fighting champion” and he did not want his first title defense to end in a disqualification. Bryan then says that it is “sickening” how the match ended before saying that the idea that he got himself intentionally disqualified is a “load of dung”. The champion then says that he was “thrilled” when he learned of the no disqualification, no count-out rematch for the title. Bryan continues that “all of the problems” came from one man, Mark Henry, and that Henry should be “suspended” for ruining a good title match.

This brings out “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry, who says that, if he did get “suspended”, he would have gotten his “money worth”. Henry then reveals that he too had a meeting with SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long and the GM banned him from ringside for the title match. Henry continues that the GM also promised Henry that, if he does not get involved in the main event, then he will get his rematch for the World Heavyweight Title next week! Daniel Bryan then asks that, if he beats Big Show for a third time in the main event, and then he has to face Henry next week. Though looking a little shaken, the World Heavyweight Champion squeaks out that it is alright with him. With no disqualifications, no count-outs, and Mark Henry banned from ringside, is there any way that Daniel Bryan can survive Big Show to retain the World Heavyweight Title and, even if Bryan does survive Big Show as champion, can he survive Mark Henry next week?

After Justin Gabriel saved Hornswoggle from Heath Slater last week, former tag team partners faced off on SmackDown as Justin Gabriel went one-on-one with Heath Slater. During the match, Hornswoggle provides the distraction, allowing Justin Gabriel to take advantage, hitting the 450 Splash on Heath Slater en route to picking up the win.

Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes makes an appearance on SmackDown, reminding the crowd that he has been the Intercontinental Champion for five months, the most of any current champion in the WWE. Rhodes then says that he has “outshined” such former champions as Pedro Morales, Tito Santana, Booker T, and his own brother, Goldust. Rhodes continues that he is going to “pull an Ultimate Warrior” in 2012 by simultaneously being the Intercontinental and World Heavyweight Champion and it starts with him winning the 2012 Royal Rumble Match!

The Intercontinental Champion was in action on SmackDown as Cody Rhodes faces the man he took the title from five months ago, Ezekiel Jackson, in a non-title match. In the end, it was Cody Rhodes hitting Cross Rhodes on Ezekiel Jackson en route to picking up the win.

With every loss bringing him closer and closer to getting fired by Theodore Long, Drew McIntyre went one-on-one with “The Southern Gentleman” Ted DiBiase. Before the match begins, Hunico & Camacho ride to ringside as the match gets underway. In the end, it was Ted DiBiase hitting Dream Street on Drew McIntyre en route to picking up the win. How will Theodore Long respond to Drew McIntyre racking up yet another loss?

In their growing rivalry on Friday nights, “The Great White” Sheamus went one-on-one with “The Punjabi Dynasty” Jinder Mahal. In the end, it was Sheamus blasting Jinder Mahal with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win. Will Sheamus show this same kind of dominance in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match?

Backstage, Daniel Bryan’s girlfriend, A.J., tries to convince Big Show to not seriously injure Daniel Bryan. However, the World Heavyweight Champion sees the two of them and accuses Big Show of trying to get his “girl”. Big Show tells Bryan that Bryan has changes since winning the title and not for the better and Bryan responds by telling Show to leave. After asking if Big Show was trying to intimidate her, Daniel Bryan asks A.J. how much she loves him before saying they need to talk. What does Daniel Bryan mean? Is the World Heavyweight Champion plotting to use A.J. to retain the title?

The legal counsel for Interim RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis, David Otunga, was in action on SmackDown as the Harvard Law graduate went one-on-one with the new Assistant to the SmackDown General Manager, Santino Marella. In the end, it was David Otunga picking up a rare win over Santino Marella after hitting a modified side slam.

After his surprising and “funkadelic” RAW debut Monday night, “The Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay was in action on SmackDown as the super heavyweight from Planet Funk went one-on-one with Tyson Kidd. In a flashy, funky, and dominant display, Brodus Clay hits a flying cross body on Tyson Kidd en route to picking up the win.

In a developing rivalry between the two second-generation Divas, the daughter of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, Tamina, went one-on-one with the daughter of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, Natalya. In the end, it was Tamina hitting the Superfly Splash on Natalya en route to picking up the win.

Two weeks before he competes in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match, Wade Barrett appears on SmackDown, stating that he is not impressed by Sheamus. Barrett continues that he is a man of “class” and a man who is in “control of his faculties” before saying that he will win the Royal Rumble Match. Barrett then challenges Sheamus to a one-on-one match on next week’s Sin City SmackDown, a challenge that Sheamus will readily accept. What will happen when Sheamus and Wade Barrett collide next week on Sin City SmackDown?

Then it was time for the main event as, in a rematch from last week’s SmackDown, Daniel Bryan defended the World Heavyweight Championship against “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, but this time, there would be no disqualifications, no count-outs, and Mark Henry was banned from ringside. However, before the title match begins, Daniel Bryan brings his girlfriend, A.J., out to ringside. During the match, the action spills to the outside and that is where Daniel Bryan takes advantage of the no disqualification aspect of the match as Bryan waylays Big Show with countless steel chair shots. Back in the ring, Daniel Bryan plants Big Show with a DDT on a steel chair, but Big Show kicks out as the move looks to only anger the giant. Back on the outside of the ring, Big Show takes apart the announce table, but Daniel Bryan is able to fight back, using the steel chair in an attempt to wear Big Show down, but Show still fights back. Daniel Bryan then runs from Big Show, running past A.J., who is then inadvertently knocked down by Big Show. An EMT then rushes out as both Daniel Bryan and Big Show express their concern for the downed Diva. More EMT’s then arrive as they load an unconscious A.J. onto a stretcher as Big Show breaks down in tears over the accidental collision. As Daniel Bryan keeps a close eye on Big Show, the two Superstars accompany the EMT’s in escorting A.J. out of the arena. Daniel Bryan then shouts at an already upset Big Show before calling Big Show a “bastard”, leaving a tearful Big Show on the staging area.
