WWE: Company Purchases Mid-South Wrestling Video Library

PWInsider.com is reporting that after years of trying to acquire the video library of Bill Watts’ Mid-South Wrestling promotion, the WWE has finally purchased the video library from Bill Watts’ ex-wife, Ene, who got the video library in the divorce from her now ex-husband. Along with MSW, WWE now has the video library of the short-lived promotion, Universal Wrestling Federation (the last attempt at a wrestling promotion by Bill Watts).
This has got to be great news for the WWE as the company prepares for the much-anticipated launch of the WWE Network (still scheduled to launch later this year).
With the purchase of the MSW video library, WWE now owns the rights to video footage from WCW, ECW, AWA, WCCW, SMW, UPW, Stampede Wrestling, and Georgia Championship Wrestling, among others. WWE is already planning to release special DVD’s and Blu-Rays in the future, featuring the likes of “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Junkyard Dog, and Ted DiBiase, who were all major stars in MSW/UWF during the organization’s run from the 1950′s to 1987.
