Breaking WWE News: Diva Quits the Company!

Posted on June 29th, 2012 by

In a surprising move, PWInsider is reporting that WWE Diva Maxine has quit the company, apparently over her lack of advancement in the WWE. Maxine (Karlee Perez) felt that she was “stuck” on NXT (though she started to appear more frequently on RAW and SmackDown as of late). There are also rumors saying that Maxine did not even have a “guaranteed contract”.

Maxine was signed to a developmental contract and sent to FCW in 2009, where she remained until she made her WWE debut on the third season of NXT as a Rookie Diva. After being eliminated from the show in week nine of the third season, Maxine would re-emerge on the August 16 episode of NXT Redemption (Season Five). Maxine would align herself with Derrick Bateman, but would ultimately end up with Johnny Curtis and, at one point, was forced to be handcuffed to Curtis when not competing. During her time on NXT Redemption, Maxine would make occasional TV and pay-per-view appearances with the other WWE Divas (in Lumberjill Matches or Diva competitions). Maxine’s final WWE appearance was this past Monday on RAW when she was a part of the Divas Summertime Beach Battle Royal, where she was the first Diva eliminated.

Maxine’s departure impacts an already dwindling Divas division as WWE currently has 14 Divas on the main roster with only six of them competing on a regular basis (with Kharma waiting in the wings to return, Kelly Kelly’s status up in the air, and Eve taking time off to participate in NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes).

Maxine took to Twitter to make several comments on her granted release, saying the following:

“We have come to terms on my release. Its been a ride I want to thank WWE for the experience and understanding on my feelings.”

“Its not easy saying goodbye. But there are other options at which I can do. To my fans you may not see me on the WWE screen but on another(;”

“I want to do nothing but get the real chance to entertain all of you…sometimes you have to make that chance for yourself!!”

“I want to take all of you with me…so I hope you all understand why i made my decision.”

“I’m not going to another wrestling company that is not in my plans!!! I didnt ask for my release to go to another company.”
