WWE: Details on John Laurinaitis’ Resignation

Posted on August 2nd, 2012 by

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that, after it was revealed that John Laurinaitis opted to resign from his position as Senior Vice President of Talent Relations, more details have come out about the resignation. Laurinaitis was reportedly telling those within the WWE how exhausted he has been with his workload lately, which included his office duties at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT and traveling to numerous live events as a performer.

In addition to this, Executive Vice President of Talent and Events Paul “Triple H” Levesque has never been a big supporter of Laurinaitis and the new hires of Jane Geddes as the Vice President of Talent Relations and Canyon Ceman as the Senior Director of Talent Development became a sign of Laurinaitis losing his duties as Geddes and Ceman have adjusted well to their new positions. The more Geddes and Ceman learned, the more duties Laurinaitis lost. Creative writer Michael Hayes has even replaced Laurinaitis as the ‘matchmaker’ at live events and Laurinaitis has also been taken out of the loop in regards to the goings-on with WWE’s developmental program.

Many within the WWE are expecting Laurinaitis to join RAW and SmackDown on the road full-time as “Big Johnny” is scheduled for live event appearances through September. From 2004 to 2009, Laurinaitis was one of the most powerful employees in the WWE, but when Stephanie McMahon took over the developmental department and promoted her husband, Triple H, to a lucrative position, that is when Laurinaitis began to be demoted a little bit at a time.

When it was originally reported that Laurinaitis’ resigned, several people in and out of the WWE believed that Laurinaitis was leaving the WWE altogether, but it is now known that Laurinaitis has opted to remain with the WWE as a performer and Producer since he just bought a new home in Connecticut and does not want to force his family to relocate.
