Press Release

Livewire Wrestling Entertainment in association Revolution British Wrestling

The Cresset, Rightwell, Bretton, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE3 8DX

Friday 28th January 2005

Doors Open at 6.30pm. Event Begins at 7.30pm. Show Ends at 10.30pm

Friday 28th January sees a live wrestling spectacular take place at The Cresset, Peterborough, one of the most established and acclaimed venues in Cambridgeshire.

The event will be presented by Livewire Wrestling Entertainment in association Revolution British Wrestling, which marks the first ever Livewire event and also the first event of 2005 for RBW.

Taking part in this event are some of the top stars of Revolution British Wrestling including the likes of British Middleweight Champion, "Misfit" Jorge Castano, number one technical wrestling veteran, Johnny Kidd, tag team stars The New Breed and many others.

This event should be the first of many to take place at The Cresset and we hope to see many fans turn up to witness a great way to kick off the year of British wrestling.

The Card

Johnny Kidd vs Tex Benedict

British Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarter-Final

The first quarter-final contest in the British Heavyweight Championship Tournament takes place, between Johnny Kidd and Tex Benedict who advanced to this contest after defeating "Golden Boy" Cameron Knite and "Sadistic" Jack Storm respectively back in Finchley, London during September 2004.

Johnny Kidd remains one of the favourites in the whole tournament, winning the Wrestler of the Year award this past year, and competing in some of what unarguably class as some of RBW's best matches to date.

Unfortunately for Tex Benedict, he is seen as being one of the underdogs in the tournament, but with his resourceful tactics and a Championship to try and win, it is not impossible that Benedict could gain an upset win.

These two wrestlers will be clashing for the second time, following a British Middleweight Championship bout in May 2004, which saw Johnny Kidd emerge as the winner, but only narrowly.

Ashe of The New Breed vs "Sensation of the Nation" Rob Hunter

Singles Contest

Ashe of the New Breed tag team made his RBW debut back in June 2004, and has since gone on to make a strong impression in RBW. Two heated contests against Stixx saw the first one being a loss for Ashe, but just under three months later in the very same venue, Ashe managed to pick up the victory, which in this case had more significance, as it was part of the British Heavyweight Championship Tournament.

Despite not competing frequently in 2004, "Sensation of the Nation" Rob Hunter is undoubtedly one of Britain's most talented welterweight wrestlers and proved himself in RBW, picking up a shocking victory over Johnny Kidd in July 2004. Hunter's 2005 RBW career will hopefully see him become a more frequent competitor.

This will be the first time that these two wrestlers have ever wrestled, and we look forward to seeing them battle it out until a winner is decided.

Curve of The New Breed vs "Sadistic" Jack Storm

Singles Contest

As one half of the infamous New Breed tag team hailing from Chingford, London, 2004 saw Curve along with Ashe make their debut into the RBW ranks. Curve's bid in the British Heavyweight Championship Tournament was cut short by J.C Thunder who unfairly managed to defeat him in Curve's very own hometown in November 2004. With 2005 beginning, Curve is looking to bounce back in both the singles and tag team divisions.

"Sadistic" Jack Storm has widely been tipped to be one of the breakout stars in British wrestling, and insiders believe that 2005 may well prove that statement to be correct. Similar to Curve, Jack Storm's entry into the British Heavyweight Championship Tournament was cut short, this time by Tex Benedict in controversial fashion.

With both wrestlers unhappy about their elimination from the tournament, they are both looking to make 2005 their year.

"Misfit" Jorge Castano (c) vs Dragon Phoenix

British Middleweight Championship
The Colombian-born Jorge Castano has proved himself throughout last year to be one of the most competitive and capable wrestlers in RBW. Winning the British Middleweight Championship on his third attempt in May 2004, Jorge Castano then proceeded to defend the Championship against all opponents, always being successful in his defence. It was even Jorge Castano who surprisingly managed to defeat "Anarchist" Doug Williams when Williams debuted for RBW late last year, advancing in the British Heavyweight Championship Tournament, and having the opportunity to walk away as the first ever double-Champion in RBW history.

Dragon Phoenix is a Northfield-based welterweight who to date, has made two appearances in Revolution British Wrestling. Ironically his first appearance was against "Misfit" Jorge Castano for the British Middleweight Championship, which saw Dragon Phoenix make a tremendous effort against the more-experienced Castano. A couple of months later, Dragon Phoenix made his tag team debut at the side of Morales to defeat the Swift Justice tag team, which saw a more 'partying' side of Dragon Phoenix emerge.

This contest will see Morales at the side of Dragon Phoenix, despite not due to compete at the event.

With this being Dragon Phoenix's second attempt at Jorge Castano, could Castano be over-confident following his previous win or will he keep his Championship reign intact?

Andy Simmonz vs Eamon O'Neil

Singles Contest

In recent times the career of Andy Simmonz has seen him compete frequently all over the United Kingdom and even abroad. Making his RBW debut at the UKWA-affiliated event in Sheffield, Yorkshire back in February 2004, he shockingly turned on his partners Jack Hazard and Will Assault, aiding the Southern Alliance group to defeat them. Despite this, Andy Simmonz was not seen afterwards, nor announced as another member of the Southern Alliance group. With his unknown reasoning, Andy Simmonz was not seen for eight months, before returning in Hitchin, Hertfordshire loosing to the debuting "Flying" Phil Powers, but seemingly having no trace of his controversial actions from before.

Eamon O'Neil has had his fair share of run-ins with the Southern Alliance group, with a total of three tag team contests against them, two of which were British Tag Team Championship bouts. Despite never being able to overcome them, Eamon O'Neil looks like a promising wrestler for the future, and he could well make another bid at them again sometime in 2005.

Both Andy Simmonz and Eamon O'Neil live in the same area of Great Britain and we know that they have had a long-running friendship. This contest is surrounded with uncertainty with Andy Simmonz, and it will be interesting to see what transpires in this match.
