Aidan Corrigan Interview

This week I managed to catch up with the guy the future of the Scottish Scene is in, the hands of Aidan Corrigan. Aidan has taken over the reigns of Scottish Championship Wrestling after Kenny Morrison decided it was his time to step down. After a quiet time on the SCW front Aidan tells us all about his plans he has for the company.

Hey Aidan how are you today?

Hay man I’m good… In fact since I took over never been better… Looking forward to the challenge…

You were one of the Scottish based wrestlers to appear on the debut SCW show how and why did you get in to Wrestling?

Well how is quite the story… It all started 2 years go when one my mates Stpehen Reeves was wanting to go to Canada to train to become a wrestler and I was like “nah it’s only a dream” but I got use to the idea and finally I loved the idea… Now why I got into wrestling is because I LOVE it… From Wrestlemania 6 Hogan Vs Warrior 2 titles there on the line and well it was the most impressive of matches I had ever seen in wrestling… From there on in it was wrestling this wrestling that…

Instead of learning the trade in the UK you showed your dedication by going to Canada what was your time spent there like?

Canada was amazing… The best thing I could have done to learn wrestling… We got a lot of respect from guys in Canada for going all that way just to learn wrestling and we sure did work our asses off to pay back that respect… Would like to give a mention the HIW or High Impact wrestling – highimpact.hypermart.net/

What did you think of the debut SCW event and how did you think it went for you?

Man that SCW show was amazing… Nothing more positive could have been said about the SCW show than amazing… Meeting all the guys on show and having a great laugh… The crowd blew the roof off the place and made it easier for guys like us (green guys)… For me the show was just amazing to be in and to be part of something that was just on the verge of something…

What are the training facilities like in Scotland and do you plan to start up your own facility for up and coming Scottish stars to train in?

Training what training facilities??? There is basically nothing in Scotland for wrestling… SCW will have training facilities HOPEFULLY up and running before this year runs out… We are working on seeing what guys are still interested in training with us and seeing about a ring in several different places… So as I say hopefully before the year runs out SCW will be training our own roster…

What has made you go take over the reigns at SCW?

Well if SCW went straight down the drains then it means I have to start from scratch of move some where else and well I don’t have money to move somewhere else… So SCW wasn’t in such bad shape and it has a huge Scottish fan base so why not take over… The Scottish fan deserve more when it comes to wrestling and we want to give them the best that we can offer…

How do you feel Kenny Morrison did in promoting the first SCW show?

What bad thing could I say about Kenny… This guy gives me the chance to shine on SCW debut show and gives us the opening match… Come on Kenny done a great job and maybe one day Kenny will make his mark on SCW again…

Were you surprised to see Kenny go and what were your thoughts on the situation?

I was surprised to see Kenny go it was kinda a shock… I know Kenny for a good while now and well he LOVES wrestling… So I thought Kenny was SCW till he dies… But I was wrong and Kenny had to do what he thought was right… Well he has done cause SCW is in safe hands and will be back on the map soon…

What is your current opinion on the ScottishWrestling scene and the UK scene as a whole?

We have to many tribute shows up here that it makes me sad… Cause we have so much talent in Scotland that we could run shows every week and take on the best of the best… The UK scene I think is starting to pick itself up and thinking forward in trying to be better than what the Americans or Canadians can give us…

Can you let us in on a few plans you have for SCW?

Well the plans I have are plain and simple we need training for our basic roster and to run a show maybe before the year is out… If not then next year will be fine… We are in no hurry just a little impatient…

Since Lions Rampant the SCW has been very quiet when do you want to be promoting shows by?

Well as I said Hopefully before the end of the year but its a tall order but not impossible… No exact dates but as soon as possible…

Have you got any guys in line already for another SCW push if so can you name any names?

Okay well I’m gonna drop names here for SCW… Okay the talent on our roster at the moment is James Palmer and Stephen reeves two great talents that can take SCW up there with the best and myself of course (LOL)…
Also hope that other Scottish wrestlers can wrestle on our shows… The other guys I can’t name as of yet because it would be unfair to put them under any kind of pressure before they even train…

The SCW website www.scottishwrestling.com hasn’t been updated in a while do you intend to take that over and re do it as well?

Yeah I do intend to take over Scottishwrestling.com but at the moment we are running from another web site till we get what has to be done for
Scottishwrestling.com… The other website is under construction and will be running from www.geocities.com/aidanc_2000 only for just now… (Now: ScottishCW.com)

Within a year you have gone from a wrestler to an owner what goals have you set yourself and SCW?

Well for SCW it has to be training and running shows… For myself its promoting and getting back in the ring to do what has to be done…

Any last comments?

All I gotta say is thanks to you guys for putting us back on the map and letting us do this interview… It can only be good for Scottish wrestling and the UK scene as a whole…

Thanks for your time Aidan and all of us at TWO/W101 send you our best wishes and hope everything goes well for yourself and SCW.
