K-Star KotR Video Review

This week I will be doing a UK Scene related review as I go over the latest K-Star event video which was their King of the Ring 2003 tournament held earlier this year.

K-Star King of the Ring 2003

Now you may remember me talking about this event in the UK Scene column in February. Well this week I finally managed to sit down and review the tape from the show and here are my thoughts on from what I was hearing about the event was a sound night of entertainment.

I must first off start by talking about the production values of the tape itself. I was mightily impressed by the intro sequence they had put together and with the on screen graphics used throughout the show like wrestlers names appearing at the bottom of the screen and the use of instant replays whilst still being able to see the action going on. On top of this the use of multi camera was edited together superbly so even without watching the action I was impressed.

Now for the production values of the show itself. I thought once again these were high with a brilliant entrance way set up with black curtains, K-Star banners, lights the lot looked very impressive. The venue looked huge and was filled, could hardly see an empty seat in the house.

I have already reviewed the results so I wont go over those but for in-ring action it had some superb moments. The guy I keep on raving about Carl Mizzery pulled it out again as he put on three stellar performances on the night and was well over with the fans. Saying this though Carl wasn’t my man of the night I know shock, shock horror.

My man of the night award had to go to a wrestler who doesn’t get praised enough that being Sal Americana. Working in a Kurt Angle like role he was brilliant he worked the crowd brilliantly to the point they were mobbing him come his third match. His in ring work was impeccable with a good arsenal of moves and some very innovative throws.
Match of the night was definitely Carl Mizzery vs. Sal Americana without doubt one of the best matches I have seen so far this year. Both competitors had already worked two matches but this didn’t matter as they had brilliant chemistry being the top heel and face on the night respectively. The crowd were really in to it and was a brilliant way to cap a good night of entertainment.

One guy I want to see more now from the show is a wrestler called “The Bouncer” I had never seen him wrestle before the show but he impressed me very much so will have to get some more K-Star videos.

Until next time
