Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks UK scene column. Sorry for it’s lateness but both myself (Goldy) and Adam Sibley have been off enjoying busy weekends. I’m just back from the WWEs Passport To Pain show in Manchester which was a lot better than I expected! Can British Uprising compete? I know it can and will so without further a do let’s get onto the reason why i’m here and that’s to bring you all the latest in UK wrestling news.

As I have already mentioned British Uprising II once, I will continue with all the very latest news concerning this show. Now the FWA have been very busy this week confirming more international stars as well as sorting out the final card which is looking simply awesome I must say. First off earlier last week it was announced that Ring Of Honours and MLW’s Homicide would be wrestling on the card. This will be his first appearance for the FWA and a signing that’s sure to keep the FWA faithful happy.

The day later it was announced that Alex Shane definitely wouldn’t be able to wrestle his tag match against The Family so this leaves Ulf Herman without a partner, who will it be? Frontier Wrestling have made little hints that it could be the ECW favourite Balls Mahoney. This is the type of match totally suited for Mahoney and it would be great to see him back at the York hall. Remember this is just a rumour as yet and has by no means been confirmed. Another candidate for this much could be Stevie Knight who has impressed since returning to in ring action recently. I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see.

CM Punks opponent was next up. This had been the subject of much debate, but it was finally confirmed that Colt Cobana would be his opponent, leading the way for a IWA Mid-South Guest Match. These two have fought before in the said IWA Mid-South and had a very entertaining feud which will now go international. Cobana was mentioned by the fans several times as the person they would like to see at Uprising II, it’s good to see FWA trying their best to fulfil the fans wishes.

As recent as yesterday the FWA have completed their card by matching up Jonny Storm against Justin Credible and Jack Xavier to take on Homicide. Both these matches should be very entertaining and Storm/Credible will also have a stipulation attached, as yet we have not been made aware of what it is, but depending on the stipulation it could really make this match something special.

So the updated card now stands like this:

  • Doug Williams vs James Tighe

  • Birchill vs Hampton Court

  • CM Punk vs Colt Cobana

  • Zebra Kid vs Flash Barker

  • The Family vs Ulf Herman

  • Homicide vs Jack Xavier

  • Nikita vs Mark Sloan

  • Justin Credible vs Jonny Storm

I will be making the long trip down to London and hope to see some of you there, feel free to say hi if you spot me! Please visit: FrontierWrestling for ticket details and any further details you might require.

Just sticking with Jonny Storm and Doug Williams they have been busy over in Austria over the weekend. Storm defeated X-Dream to become the number one contender for the promotions middleweight title. Williams also tasted success by defeating Chris Hero.

James Tighe and Simmonz were likewise busy wrestling for ICW Wrestling in Italy. They teamed up to challenge for the tag team belts but were unfortunately defeated by the tag team Los Anticristos. Simmonz accidentally injured James Tighe and was therefore matched against him in the main event with Simmonz emerging as the victor.

It seems to have been a very busy week for Doug Williams as he was also wrestling for All Star in Croydon main-eventing against current champion American Dragon. Williams recaptured the gold defeating Dragon in the twelfth round. This is a fantastic time to catch All Star if they venture near you as they are putting on some top matches using some very established UK stars, adding a nice blend of foreign talent to the mix for a complete all round card. If British Uprising II isn’t enough for you then Premier Promotions are holding a show the following night on Sunday 19th October in Cheshunt, London. James Tighe and Paul Birchill are both making their debuts for the promotion with Birchill facing none other than… Doug Williams lol. The show starts at 7pm and also includes appearances by UK Kid, Columbian Dragon, Jorge Costano, Mr Dynamite and Johnny Kidd. So all in all you could have a fantastic weekend in London kicking off at the FWAs Fan Slam Saturday afternoon right through to Premier Promotions show Sunday evening.

EPW are also in action this Sunday putting their championship on the line. Eight of their top stars will battle it out in a single elimination tournament to find the very first EPW Heavyweight Champion. Wrestlers in this match are: Mike Gudness, Carnige, Mark Mingnot, Andy Hogg, Mark Impact, Flawless Carter Jay and The Wigan Warrior. This event is taking place in Sheffield at the Waltheof Leisure Centre, Beaumont.

wZw are holding another of their wonderful free shows on October the 26th. There is no excuse for anybody to miss this show if you are in the area as it’s FREE!! My favourite price lol. The event is called Fright Night and is keeping with the Halloween theme with several Halloween inspired matches including a “broomstick” match and a Dunking competition, sounds great fun. These shows are to show case the trainees talents but also feature the usual roster also. The show takes place at Ray Gray Community Centre, Stotts Road, Daisy Hill. Just before I close we at TWO would like to wish MTX otherwise know as UK star Jem Brown a speedy recovery after he was involved in a car accident last week where he suffered a broken bone in his back. Jem will be out of action for six weeks. No further information has yet been released.
