Flash Barker has relinquished the PWF heavyweight title. Barker appeared in the ring on crutches to make the announcement during the latest Premier Promotions show at the Assembly Hall, Worthing.
Barker suffered serious knee damage against Doug Williams in the final of the Worthing Trophy in September and has since aggravated the injury while attempting to wrestle through the pain barrier in a number of other important matches.
Rowdy Ricky Knight immediately jumped the ring to stake his claim to the championship, which will be decided in a tournament early in the new year.
Among the other leading contenders will be Doug Williams. Barker, who is expected to be out of action for at least six months, has been promised a new title shot when he returns to the ring.
