Welcome one and all once again to another slice of UK wrestling news as I present this weeks column. This week I will be following up on the exclusive story I broke last week about EWW and go into more details about their comeback event. I will also talk about how powerful this column is becoming in the UK wrestling business. So sit back and enjoy another delve in to the UK scene.

So where else to start with but continuing on from last weeks exclusive story. Since I made the big announcement last week the news had spread across the Internet and people have been giving their thoughts and opinions on the news that I broke. To add to this EWW have announced the details for their big comeback show. So the ball is once again rolling on one of the most controversial promotions to ever run in the country. The debut event is entitled “Resurrection” and the card currently looks like this:

  • The Overlords vs. The Flatliner and a mystery partner

  • Necrosis vs. Psycho Silvera

  • UK Pitbulls vs. New Breed

So with only three matches announced the card is already starting to wet the appetite. The Overlords were going to run in the FWA over a year ago but due to injuries the run never happened so it will be good to see what this partnership has to offer. Then we have the much talked about Necrosis who many people have been guessing the identity of against new up and coming wrestler Psycho Silvera and to add to this two of the biggest UK tag teams over the past few years go head to head.

The event will be taking place at a new interesting venue which is The Palace Nightclub in Witby, Oxfordshire. So the event is still in Oxford so if you have supported EWW in the past make sure to get down to The Palace Nightclub on May the 14th. The tickets are an absolute bargain at £5 each and for more information on the event and how to buy tickets please visit http://www.extremeworldwarfare.com

Now at the top of the column I mentioned about how powerful this column is getting well I will explain my point. You may remember in last week’s column I shared my annoyance with X-Wrestling releasing most of the UK Wrestlers booked for their first show which weren’t many to begin with. Well they must have been reading as since the column went out they have announced the signing of UK star 5 Star Flash to their debut event which has been moved to the 28th of August. I would like to thank the powers that be at X-Wrestling for taking on board the thoughts of this column and the feelings of many wrestling fans in the UK I just hope in the weeks running up to the event you announce even more UK stars to feature on the show.

Now moving on to news which I might as well make a weekly feature this is of course news on our Brits abroad. This week we start with Paul Tyrell who has just come back from Pennsylvania in America where he has worked a show for WXW. The promotion is run by Afa “The wild Samoan” and Paul Tyrell had his match for them taped for a television appearance which is really good news. To add to this he impressed so much that he has been invited back for a longer tour in March. Also on Monday Jonny Storm left to go to on a month’s tour of America and Japan. I am yet to have details on how his tour is going but I will endeavor to keep you updated on Jonny’s tour as the week’s progress.

This weekend sees the biggest FWA academy show ever taking place at the Riverpark Leisure centre in Winchester. These events normally feature a card full of trainees with a couple of FWA main roster stars but this event sees many FWA main event stars appearing to make this a very special night of wrestling. The card looks more like an FWA main event card than an academy card and this is how it currently stands:

  • Alex Shane and Paul Travell vs. Ross Jordan and a mystery partner

  • Doug Williams vs. Aviv Maayan

  • Emaon Sharahan vs. Simmonz

  • James Tighe vs. Stixx

  • Duke of Danger vs. Mark Sloan

  • Raj and Rishi Ghosh vs. Burchill

  • Baxter Burridge vs. Charles Rease

So many history making matches in the making on the card so make sure to get to Winchester to see the show live. Tickets are priced at a very reasonable £6 and can be brought on the door or booked by ringing 023 9271 7945 doors are at 7pm.

This week Anglo American wrestler Tex Benedict has been nominated for a very prestigious mainstream award. Tex has been nominated to receive the Pentland Jewish Sports Personality of the year award. This award recognizes achievement by a single athlete in their chosen field. The award ceremony will be held in February in London. We would just like to pass on our best wishes from the Wrestling 101 team and to say well done for even being nominating Tex and we hope you go all the way.

You may have noticed this week I have been busy making sure there have been daily UK Scene updates on the newsboard. I hope you have all enjoyed reading the news first as it comes in straight off the press instead of having to wait for the weekly column. I am a very busy man so don’t have the time to go trawling round web sites for news to post so if you want a story posting or you work or are involved with a UK Scene promotion and want news put up on the newsboard no matter how big or small the news is the only way to guarantee it gets up is to email me with the news story. My email address is: adam@wrestling101.com and I will try to have all news stories up within 24 hours of them being sent in.

Now as you all know last week I gave my first big exclusive of the year well you don’t have to wait long for my second as I will be announcing it next week. All week I have been in negotiations with a UK promotion regarding our website here at Wrestling 101. Well I can announce that a deal has been done and next week will be increasing our service to the UK Scene as we have been covering it for years on the site but we also want to work as a service to UK promotions so be sure to read next weeks column to find out more about this new partnership.

Baxter Burridge has been in touch this week informs me that his first column will be out very soon he has had a very busy time as of late and has really transformed in to a new person over the break, which you will find out more about as he gives the exclusive story in his first column for Wrestling101.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s column and remember now you have finished reading to check out all the brilliant content on the site. Once you have exhausted that though why not go and read my feature in this week’s column on the Sun Online written by those brilliant wrestling journalists the Lilsboys. To read my bit go here.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
