Matches for UKPW event – April 23rd

Press Release:

United Kingdom Pro Wrestling returns to Holbury, Southampton on Friday April 23rd 2004. Featuring a full card of Wrestling action, you will see competitors such as Ethan ‘The Heat’ Hayze, Chris Wyld, Andy Simmonz, Marcus ‘The Toad’ Hiscott, Anton Green, Kid Regis, Eamon O’Neil and more. Several matches can now be announced with more to be added.

4 Man Tournament

First Round:

Mark Phillips vs Anton Green

During last month’s event in Walthamstow, Mark Phillips used his connections with Sammy Ray to become appointed the guest referee for the evening. That night, Phillips used the position as a tool to aid him in his budding feud with Aaron Jason, a rivalry that began during their debut year in the English Wrestling Federation. On April 23rd, Mark Phillips will wrestle his first match for UKPW when he opposes ‘The Atomic Ant’ Anton Green in the first round of the 4 man tournament. Green is no stranger to these tournaments having won the very first UKPW tournament back in December. ‘The Atomic Ant’ was also the victor of a 10 man Rumble on March 19th and will no doubt prove to be a major test for the young upstart. Phillips knows that he could make a big impact by winning this tournament and claiming victory over two top competitors in one night. This motivation, combined with his impressive performances of late, could see him take a giant leap up the ladder of success in Holbury.

First Round:

Kid Regis vs Ethan Hayze *

As soon as the competitors for the upcoming tournament were revealed, UKPW received a request from Kid Regis to personally select his first round opponent. Fresh off his victory over Stixx and Corey Davis last month, Ethan ‘The Heat’ Hayze is the man that Kid Regis wants to beat first in his quest for the tournament trophy. It is widely believed that this challenge was inspired by Regis’ new tag team partner, Chris Wyld. Wyld will be competing against Eamon O’Neil on this night but would like nothing more than to see Hayze’s winning streak come to an end. Regis has constantly been pressured by Wyld to impress and there would be no better way to do that than by defeating Wyld’s perennial nemesis. Should Regis be successful, Wyld may start to show a little more respect to the man he recently deemed as being less useful as a partner than a hamster!

* With Ethan Hayze’s recent injuries, this match may have to be reconsidered.

Chris Wyld vs Eamon O’Neil

This match could very likely turn out to be the show stealer. Chris Wyld has made a huge impact in UKPW since it’s inception, narrowly losing to Ethan Hayze in the main event of UKPW’s debut show. Following that match, Wyld made a huge statement by winning a 4 man tournament with victories over Andy Simmonz and Rich ‘N’ Famous and his recent alliance with Kid Regis could prove to be a dominant force if they ever learn to co-exist. In-fighting between the two may have been partially responsible for their tag team loss against The Green Machine last month and has seen them almost come to blows on more than one occassion. Chris’ opponent, Eamon O’Neil, has also made a big impression in UKPW despite having wrestled at only one event. Eamon made his UKPW debut back in January as one of the participants in a 10 man Rumble. Earlier in the night, O’Neil ran into some trouble backstage in the form of Sammy Ray. The battle spilled out into the ring and was only halted when several UKPW Superstars ran out to hold the two grapplers apart. Eamon would go on to win the Rumble that night, eliminating Sammy Ray last. Prior to eliminating Ray, O’Neil took advantage of a verbal confrontation between Anton Green (who had just been eliminated) and Chris Wyld by sending Wyld over the ropes and eliminating him, much to the delight of the crowd. Wyld has not forgotten and will be looking to avenge that incident when the two clash one on one at the Waterside Theatre.
