NOAH results 21/5/04

NOAH rolled into Miyagi today with a huge match, Liger v Kikuchi for Liger’s GHC Jr. Heavyweight title.
Almost half a year has passed since he captured gold at the Tokyo Dome, but New Japan’s Jushin Thunder Liger is still the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion! NOAH remains deprived of it’s top junior title, after Liger defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in the main event of today’s NOAH show in Kikuchi’s home area of Miyagi. Liger, who ended the New Japan vs. NOAH “junior tag wars” by pinning Kikuchi, hit an avalanche-style brainbuster, several shoteis, then a vertical drop brainbuster to finish off his stubborn, but outgunned opponent. The man Liger recently passed as the most successful GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion ever, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, ran in and attacked Liger post-match. Kanemaru will challenge next, either on NOAH’s next tour or at it’s Tokyo Dome show, and will be looking to begin his third reign as champion in the best way possible. For Liger, he enters New Japan’s Super Jr. tournament from tomorrow, still as the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion.
