In this Future-Shock I’m talking MMA, UWL, NCW, Internet Fraudsters, USA.

Hello and thanks for reading the Future-Shock. Over the past couple of weeks I have been continuing my MMA/ Grappling training. It’s different from pro wrestling in the sense that, with Pro, there is a more strict technique in terms of which side of the opponent’s body you go for. With the MMA, moves have to be done from either side, and so you have to cast off some of the old habits.

You also have to get used to the fact that MMA is a bit clumsier than pro, in that you are not working in the same direction as far as timing goes. With MMA, you both tend to be pulling in opposing directions and the result us a lot messier than with the carefully balanced aspects of pro wrestling. Its been a great learning exercise to get involved in MMA training because it adds to a wrestlers skills, and gives you inspiration to try things in the pro rings, that have either not been done before, or have had little exposure.

On July 24th I will be making my first appearance for the UWL at an event in Northampton. The official website has me faced off against an MMA based competitor so that will be interesting, and not just a little ironic. I know some of the guys at UWL, and look forward to catching up with them, and meeting new faces. This will actually the 3rd wrestling group I have made my debut for this year having been part of CWC, and the first NCW show.

Speaking of National Championship Wrestling, they have announced plans recently for a series of shows coming up towards the end of the year. I have a lot of respect for NCW, and the way they delivered on their promise of staging a large UK based show, with UK based wrestlers and the addition of marketable talent from the USA. Shane Douglas and Eric Priest made a great impression, and NCW seemed to succeed back in March where other promotions have failed. I’ll have more information on the UWL and NCW shortly.

On an entirely different note: Recently an email alerted me to a website that had a post signed Scott Future. The post referred to a start up wrestling promotion and the comments attributed to me basically told readers that I was the promoter of a group called SWF. Let me just clarify that I did not make that post. If you ever have any concerns about bogus posts, please be sure to email me at scottf@wrestling101.com All official Scott Future related news is released through an official wire service and linked to my website www.scottfuture.com

Ending on a happier note this week, things are piecing themselves together again as far as Scott Future and the United States are concerned. I may be a couple of years away from some of the plans that are forming come to fruition, but the Future is looking good for Scott Future. Some of the work I put into the states during 2001/2002 was very important as far as foundation laying. I have also had some great support from 3 different territories out there eager to have me over. Its all a question of timing. It never ceases to amaze me when I get support from other countries. So although this scene appears in the “UK Scene”, Id like to also thank all my international friends for your support.

Catch you next issue.
