NJPW 19/7/04 Preview

New Japan is running its last big show before next months G-1 Climax tour at the Tsukisamu Green Dome tomorrow with 5 huge title match ups and several other important and interesting bouts….

Naruse and Nagai the two former RINGS competors face off in the opener and recently Naruse has been appealing to Nagai to allow him to be his mystery partner in his challenge for the All Asian Tag Titles, this maybe the match that helps Nagai make his mind up on the situation….

Former IWGP Tag Team champs Tenzan and Nishimura take on the new generation team of Nakamura and Taguchi… Nakamura has reason to be confident as it was him who defeated Tenzan in 2003 to end his first run as IWGP Champ….

Former tag partners and techincal masters Yuji Nagata and Iizuka face off in match 3 with Iizuka trying to come back from another serious concussion, should be a treat…

Then in match 4 Chono and Tenryu, two anti-NJ wrestlers face two former allies and two more anti-NJ wrestlers in Nakanishi and Norton in what should be a hard hitting and painful contest….

Then we hit the title matches as Jado and Gedo along with allies Takemura and Liger will face the fan favourites Koji Kanemoto and Wataru Inoue… What role will Koji’s former partner now arch enemy Liger play? Will the faces bring home the gold and end the heels third run as champs? Should be fast paced and very heated match-up….

Then in match six  Heat faces the number 1 contender, his good friend Tiger Mask. Tiger has had Heats number for quite a while and defeated him twice on the way to the Best of the Super Jr last month… Can Tiger gain back the title he never lost in the ring?

Then in match 7, the King of DQ Toru Yano faces a problem? Do I get DQ’d and lose a chance at the U-30 title? He faces the champ Tanahashi knowing that any of his usual antics will cost him any chance of his first gold in NJPW….

Then match 8 brings the outsider champions Takayama and MiSuzuki against the heel tandem of Sasaki and Liger in match that Liger earned when he shockingly pinned Suzuki in a tag match last month… The team have been beating many openweight and some heavyweight tandems on this tour but can the team of Sasaki and Liger take out the shooter style combo?

Then the main event as the IWGP title is on the line as new champion Fujita faces another 3 New Muskateer in Shibata for his first defense of the title…. Shibata has beaten quite a few of his seniors on the last two tours using ‘Soccer Style’ and is aiming to use Fujita’s head as a ‘human football’…

The full line up is as follows….
