FWA News, Plus Fleisch To Return!

PHOENIX TO FLY….JUST ONE MORE TIME?
FWA management today announced that ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch will be a special guest at British Uprising 3.

Jody retired from professional wrestling in the summer of 2003 and has not been seen anywhere near the FWA or indeed the UK wrestling scene ever since. The former FWA British Heavyweight Champion had remained silent on his reasons for this premature retirement, when seemingly at the peak of his powers, while in the midst of a bitter rivalry with his former best friend ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm .

This shock announcement, which has come completely out of the blue to us here at Frontierwrestling.com, will fuel speculation that Jody may make a return to actually compete in the wrestling ring. However, this is not expected to happen at British Uprising, nor by any means is this anywhere near a ‘given’ at any time in the future. There is no evidence to suggest that this will turn out to be anything more than a ‘one night only’ appearance.

Although no official statement has yet been made by FWA bosses, sources close to the management team told us that Jody first approached them a few days after Hotwired, requesting an opportunity to appear in front of the FWA fans one more time. It is believed he wanted the chance to say goodbye to his legions of supporters and as British Uprising 3 was the biggest show in the company’s history, this seemed an opportune moment for him to do so.

This marks something of an about-turn for The Phoenix because at the time of his retirement, he personally requested that his departure from the wrestling scene should remain as low key as possible, and politely declined any attempts by the FWA to persuade him to be honoured with any kind of official send-off or retirement ceremony. The reasons for this change of heart are unclear at time of going to press. It is also unclear whether Jody will give any explanation for his sudden retirement when he appears at British Uprising, or indeed what form this special guest appearance will take.

We hope to have an official statement from FWA management on this bombshell news within the next seven days right here on www.frontierwrestling.com

SECOND UPROAR MATCH ANNOUNCED

A six-man tag team match has been signed for the British Uproar pre-show special at Uprising 3, exclusive to Ringside Ticket Holders and Fan Club members.

This will pit Alex Shane ‘s Security team of Stixx, Stone and Leroy Kincade against the unit of Dangerous Damon Leigh, Jack Storm and making his FWA debut ‘The Raging Bull’ TJ Cain. It is believed Cain was offered the final spot in this match after impressing FWA scouts in his matches for FutureShock Wrestling and GPW in the north west of England last weekend.

Dangerous Damon himself has become a regular and a crowd favourite on the FWA Live shows in Morecambe this year, but this will mark his in-ring debut on a major FWA show. Ditto Midlander Jack Storm, who will be keen to impress in front of something of a local crowd for him. Of course they will have their work cut out for them against The Showstealer’s trio of hired thugs Stixx, Stone and Leroy.

The only way to see what will happen in this match is to buy yourself a Gold, Silver or Bronze ringside ticket for Saturday November 13.

TWO MAJOR SCOOPS SET FOR SATURDAY

FWA Commissioner Flash Barker released a press statement yesterday advising us at www.frontierwrestling.com that two major decisions have been made that will have far-reaching implications for British Uprising 3.

First of all, Flash said the management team has agreed to his request to appoint a special guest referee to the six-man tag team match at British Uprising, pitting the team of ‘The Twisted Genius’ Dean Ayass – ‘The Righteous’ Paul Travell , Burchill and Terry Funk – against Greg ‘The Truth’ Lambert ‘s Triad – ‘The Highlander from Hell’ Drew McDonald , Thunder and Raj Ghosh .

Flash explained that he had been concerned about the escalating war of words between Lambert and Ayass – in particular the accusations flying back and forth between the two that they each may try to influence the outcome of the match in some way through outside interference. As both Ayass and Lambert have cast-iron managers’ licences and cannot be banned from ringside at Uprising, Barker said it was imperative to appoint a special guest official who would – in his words – “understand the mindset” of The Twisted Genius and The Truth, someone who could “get inside their heads” and ensure their presence at ringside would have no bearing on the result of this extremely important match.

It is believed the identity of this special guest referee will be revealed in Patrick Lennon ‘s ‘Fighting Talk’ column in The Daily Star this coming Saturday.

The second announcement will concern the opponent of D’Lo Brown at British Uprising 3. Flash’s statement said that the management team had considered the merits of both Mark ‘Five Star’ Belton and Jonny Storm, had taken into account the Wonderwhirld Tour petition of thousands of signatures from fans who have demanded to see Storm reinstated into the FWA, and also the protestations against Storm’s return by some members of the FWA roster, the most vocal of which have been James Tighe – who of course defeated The Wonderkid in a Loser Leaves FWA Match – and Belton himself. Flash also said that a final decision would be announced on Saturday that would not only determine an opponent for D’Lo on November 13, but also resolve the issue of Jonny’s possible reinstatement.

Frontierwrestling.com will have the exclusive on the D’Lo-Belton-Storm situation right here this coming Saturday and will also break the news on the special guest referee for Travell, Burchill and Funk versus The Triad after it has appeared in The Daily Star.
