UK Scene #146

Welcome one and all to another weekly dose of UK scene news. This week I will be talking about how my years of campaigning have finally paid off in this column after many promotions follow the example set by FCW and WAR by announcing inter-promotional events and deals. Is my vision for the future of the UK Scene coming who knows? But I am going to at least have fun talking about it…

But I am going to at least have fun talking about it.

We are now two weeks removed from the big FCWAR event which was the coming together of two midlands feds those being of course FCW and WAR. Now this show was a culmination of a brilliant partnership between the two promotions as they shared talent and WAR helped FCW with the video production of their events. So a combined show was the next logical step but with the UK as fragmented as it is at the moment it was brilliant to see a public show of unity.

Now not only was this event a public show of unity but it was a good success which has lead to the announcement that they will be doing it all over again in February which I personally can’t wait for. The FCW went from strength to strength after this event putting on one of their biggest events to date featuring three American stars D’Lo Brown, Chris Hero and Colt Cobana. The recent events have been really important for the promotion as they continue to build on their strong legion of Internet fans.

So on the new inter-promotional news I start with to new promotions IPW:UK and LDN who have this week publicly announced a deal. The arrangement will see talent going both ways on upcoming shows. For IPW:UK’s second card “Show 2” (21/11/04) there will be an LDN guest match to showcase what they have to offer for their debut card later in the month. Cabritro and Hombre Del Veilo will have the honour of wrestling in the first ever LDN match on the same card as the likes of “Sick Nick Mondo” and Robbie Brookside.

The favour will be returned less than week later as on the 26th of November IPW:UK star Tony Sefton will be invading LDN’s first ever card. Tony will be joining three other LDN competitors including Ashe and Chris Wyld in the hunt to become the first ever LDN champion. It looks to be a very interesting week for both promotions as one tries to get off the ground with a bang as the other looks to cement it place in the UK wrestling industry who knows what will happen.

The next merger sees 3CW invading MPW at their home venue of Centre AT7 in Coventry on November 20th. This inter promotional event if done right has the potential to be a brilliant storyline feud that could run and run. Hopefully we could see MPW invading 3CW on their turf to show their talents to the 3CW faithful. Whatever happens it looks to be a really good event whatever happens on the night, so be sure to get down there to see the invasion.

Our third and final merger will see RBWA and TAP bring as they call it “premium wrestling” to Nottingham. The night of action will see a mixture of matches from both promotions including some inter promotional battles. The main event sees RBWA’s Keith Myatt squaring off against head Tap man Thorn in a hardcore chain match which should be brutal to say the least. The other inter promotional matches include TAP’s Chris Botherway going against RBWA star Azazeal and then an over the top rope rumble featuring wrestlers from both promotions.

The event takes place at Sports Nottingham just behind Notts County again on the 20th of November. So with lots of brilliant events to go and see on November 20th you are probably in a quandary over which one to go to but whatever you do just be sure to get your backside down to one of them and show your support for the UK Scene.

It looks like D’Lo Brown and Chris Hero are taking a leaf out of Colt Cobana’s book by having busy UK tours. After performing for FCW, Chris made his way of north to compete for the WZW International Trophy narrowly missing out in the final to Anthony Livewire. I believe in the run up to the event there was some confusion to whether he was going to be there or not but turn up he did and what a performance he gave.

After all three US stars appeared for FCW on the same card they came back together for BCW as all three competed in an event named after D’Lo called “Lowdown.” D’Lo also met up with Chris for WZW so all three guys have had fun touring the UK together and from what I can gather it has been a highly successful tour for all three US stars.

The main reason though for Colt Cobana’s stay has been All Star who went back to Bristol with a bang this week putting on a top notch event. The event included Domino who you may remember wrestling for WZW in the past but then having to leave to pursue a career in America. Well to cut it short, Domino is still here and the USA’s loss is our gain as he now proves to be a regular part of the All Star roster.

It has also been reported this week that a crowd of nearly 1200 attended All Star’s recent event at Ingoldmels this week which is no mean feat. All Star were also due to be on prime time ITV this week as part of the “Holiday showdown” series which has been well hyped over the past weeks. I didn’t see the show but I was told they didn’t make the final cut which is a shame for British Wrestling as we will take mainstream coverage which ever way we can get it.

Hope you guys have enjoyed my rant this week and I will be back next weekend with all the build up to one of the biggest shows ever in recent British Wrestling history FWA’s British Uprising III event at the Coventry Skydome.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
