NWA-UK Hammerlock October Tour Report Oct 19th-Oct 31st

NWA-UK Hammerlock kicked off the October 2004 Tour at the Winter Gardens in Margate, Kent on October 19th. The top two contenders squared off for the vacant NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title in a match that pitted Hugh Mungus against Exodus. The 400 plus pound Hugh Mungus won the title after a gruelling contest and left Margate as the new NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title. NWA British Commonwealth Champion ‘Son of Abdullah’ also made a winning return to the United Kingdom with a victory over Jon Ryan.

The next night Hammerlock held its debut show at the ‘Tap ‘n’ Tin’ Nightclub in Chatham. This was a particularly bloody card with highlights being a six man tag team match that turned into a six man brawl that spilled all over the club. The main event pitted Chatham’s own Matt ‘Devil man’ Neal against ‘Son of Abdullah’ in a non title match. After a long and violent match ‘Devil man’ upset his Rival to send his hometown supporters home happy.

Grays in Essex was the next stop on Thursday October 21st. Hugh Magnus retained his NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title. Kurupt and JP Monroe battled each other in a Submission Match. In what was supposed to be a three on three inter gender match turned into a three on two handicap match with Danny Williams and Zack Zabre Jnr teaming with Jezebel against Irelands Paul Tracey and Fergal Devitt (Tracey and Devitt’s Female partner from Irelands flight had been cancelled earlier in the day). The Irish Team lost the match. Exodus was victorious in his hometown and Danny Garnell was also impressive and came close to defeating ‘Son of Abdullah’.

Saturday October 23rd saw us at Andover Leisure Centre in Hampshire. Hugh Mungus again retained his Title, Paul Vault was victorious as were the team of Psycho Steve and David Deville in tag team action. On almost every show on the tour a Last Man Standing Riot Match is billed and in this match at Andover a large contingent from NWA-UK Hammerlocks Welsh Training School took part and did well.

The Castle Hall in Hertford was our venue on Monday October 25th. Adam Abz retained his NWA Ireland Heavyweight Title with a victory in a Submission Match over Fergal Devitt who was accompanied by his tag team partner Paul Tracey. ‘Son of Abdullah’ defeated Danny ‘Renegade Angel’ Butler in an Anything Goes Match. Danny Williams and Chamera defeated JP Monroe and Jezebel. Justin Bred got the better of Exodus in the opening match but Exodus got the last laugh as he was victorious in the Last Man Standing Riot Match. In the shock of the night Paul Tracey who was accompanied by Fergal Devitt defeated Hugh Mungus to become the new NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion.

Tuesday October 26th saw Majik relinquish the NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight Title. Majik has recently been injured and has been unable to defend the title. It is rumoured that on his return, that Majik will be making a serious challenge for the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title. The Hammerlock Office decided that the NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight Title would be up for grabs the following night in Cardiff, Wales and that the winner of the Last Man Standing Riot Match would be declared the new NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight Champion.

Wednesday October 27th in Cardiff, Wales saw Psycho Steve crowned the NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight Champion as he was victorious in the Last Man Standing Riot Match. Hugh Mungus was as mean as ever. NWA Irelands Chamera impressed again in a mixed tag team match as did the rest of the NWA Ireland team that were in action. Jetta also impressed. Adam Abz again retained the NWA Ireland Heavyweight Title over Cardiff’s own Caiman in a hard fought match. Paul Tracey held onto his NWA-UK Heavyweight Title over Danny Williams with some help from his tag team partner Fergal Devitt. Fergal Devitt also had a great night in Cardiff – Devitt who was accompanied by Tracey challenged ‘Son of Abdullah’ for the NWA British Commonwealth Title in an Anything Goes Match. After a long brawl throughout the venue Fergal Devitt pinned ‘Son of Abdullah’ to become the new NWA British Commonwealth Champion. This rounded off a great few days for the self proclaimed ‘Irelands Greatest Ever Tag Team’ with both Paul Tracey and Fergal Devitt now both holding singles titles.

Friday October 29th say us return to Mote Park Leisure Centre in Maidstone, Kent. In a Submission Match, Americas Jack Thriller overcame Danny Garnell. Fergal Devitt retained the NWA British Commonwealth Title over Danny Williams and Psycho Steve also retained his NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight title. Chamera and Sean ‘Maxer’ Brennan overcame JP Monroe and Jezebel in Mixed Tag Action. ‘Son of Abdullah’ defeated Paul Tracey in an Anything Goes Match to become the new NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion. There was a clause in the contract however that if ‘Son of Abdullah’ was victorious he had to give Tracey a rematch the following night at the Stour Centre in Ashford, Kent. However ‘Son of Abdullah’ was already booked to take on Tracey’s tag team partner Fergal Devitt at Ashford for the NWA British Commonwealth Title and was booked to take on Psycho Steve on the last night of the tour in Steve’s hometown of Rugby in Warwickshire. Tracey and Devitt claimed that ‘Son of Abdullah’ would have to wrestle twice the next night in Ashford. However the new NWA-UK Champion responded that rather than wrestle twice that he would take the Irish team on in a 2 on 1 Handicap Match in a ‘Winner Takes All Match’ – if ‘S.O.A.’ pinned either Devitt or Tracey he won the NWA British Commonwealth Title but if Devitt or Tracey pinned ‘S.O.A.’, the Irish Team would not only have Devitt’s NWA British Commonwealth Title, but also they would have the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title back in their camp. The Irish accepted these stipulations and the match was on for Ashford the following night. In 1995 Andre ‘Sledgehammer’ Baker battled Dan ‘The Beast’ Severn in New Jersey, USA, for the NWA World Heavyweight Title – in the main event at our recent show in Maidstone one of Baker’s top talents squared off against one of Severn’s top talents when ‘Vigilante’ Johnny Moss battled CJ Otis. After a hard fought match it was Moss that emerged victorious. Finally at Maidstone Exodus won a Last Man Standing Riot Match.

On a busy night at the Stour Centre in Ashford, Kent – Psycho Steve retained his NWA-UK Junior Heavyweight Title over Paul Fury. Paul Vault battled Jack Thriller and CJ Otis squared off against Peter Jay in a Submission Match. Zack Zabre Jr was in mixed tag action teaming with Chamera against the team of Black Widow and Devilman. Zack and Chamera were victorious. ‘Vigilante’ Johnny Moss defeated Sean ‘Maxer’ Brennan. In an Anything Goes 2 on 1 Winner Takes all Handicap Match with both the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight title and the NWA British Commonwealth Title on the line ‘Son of Abdullah’ overcame Paul Tracey and Fergal Devitt when he pinned the then NWA British Commonwealth Champion – Fergal Devitt to hold both belts. There was a clause with the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title however that ‘S.O.A’ had to give either Tracey or Devitt a NWA-UK Hammerlock Title rematch within 30 days. ‘S.O.A.’ was booked to take on Psycho Steve on the final night of the tour and was then scheduled to leave the UK and wrestle in Australia so he since he was unable to defend the title within the designated 30 days, Tracey and Devitt demanded that ‘Son of Abdullah’ be stripped of the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title. Referee Mike Hunter obliged and stripped ‘S.O.A.’ of the title and took the Championship belt from him leaving the Ashford audience very unhappy at the outcome. Exodus again won the Last Man Standing Riot Match at Ashford last eliminating Jekkyl.

The final night of the tour say us at the Benn Hall in Rugby, Warwickshire – Following intense discussions the Irish Team put Fergal Devitt forward as the Number One Contender for the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title. The NWA-UK Office decided that the Number Two Contender for the belt was ‘Vigilante’ Johnny Moss. The two battled for the title with Moss emerging victorious and leaving Rugby the new NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion. ‘Son of Abdullah’ retained his British Commonwealth Title when he beat Psycho Steve in an Anything Goes Match. Exodus suffered a broken collar bone in his match with Jack Thriller. Sean ‘Maxer’ Brennan lost out to CJ Otis in a Submission Match. Hugh Mungus Battled Paul Vault.
