Exeter, Devon Wrestling Training This Saturday!
The brand new RBW training centre in Exeter, Devon opened this past Saturday (8th January 2005). A great turn-out saw the first session enjoyed be all, with Tex Benedict taking the role as trainer, replacing Sammy Ray who unfortunately couldn’t make the session.
This week, training is on once again, with the former British Welterweight Champion and #1 ranked RBW wrestler, Sammy Ray, definite to be in attendance in what will be his first session at the new centre. Sammy Ray is a regular trainer at the RBW London Training Centre, and had a very successful 2004 in wrestling, despite loosing the British Welterweight Championship to the wrestler who he had won it from, “The Gift” Ross Jordan. That said, Sammy Ray stepped into the ring with the likes of Johnny Kidd, “Wildcat” Robbie Brookside, “Misfit” Jorge Castano, Tex Benedict, the Southern Alliance and many more, gaining the best win/loss record in RBW in the process and even representing RBW on several mainstream TV shows such as The Salon and Monkey Magic.
Sammy Ray’s wrestling experience and training knowledge is sure to be beneficial to the Exeter trainees on Saturday.
Exeter is a busy university city and regional centre for the county of Devon, Exeter is a superbly sited city encompassing all the convenience of urban life within sight of some of Britain’s finest countryside. Exeter is starved of wrestling training and wrestling in general, with only a few wrestling shows taking place during the year.
The wilderness hills of Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the city’s doorstep, the English seaside ‘Riviera’ of Torbay a short drive away, and the sailing havens of the Exe and Dart rivers start just about at the city limits.
RBW training centres have already been launched in both Hampshire and London, as well as a previous one in Nottingham. Plans will see more centres opened throughout 2005 in other locations.
