Celebrity Wrestling on ITV

Press Release:

There’s no holds barred as twelve famous faces go toe to toe in new prime time Saturday night show Celebrity Wrestling.

Split into two teams each under the guidance of two of the biggest names from the world of professional wrestling, they will be taken to new levels of fitness as they prepare for combat in a series of REAL bouts filmed in front of a massive audience.

Grapple fans will not be disappointed as each week the 12 compete in a series of unique wrestling bouts presented by KATE THORNTON, who will be joined by former WWF legend ROWDY RODDY PIPER.

The celebrities are not just competing for fun because there are points and pride at stake; and ultimately there can only be one King and Queen of the ring.

The girls getting to grips with each other will be: Liberty X singer MICHELLE HEATON, TV presenter JENNY POWELL, former tennis star ANNABEL CROFT, pin-up LEILANI DOWDING, Big Brother winner and TV presenter KATE LAWLER and actress and former Miss Sweden VICTORIA SILVSTEDT.

Our male maulers are: former EastEnders heartthrob MARC BANNERMAN, the infamous Major JAMES HEWITT, show jumper OLIVER SKEETE, children’s TV presenter MARK SPEIGHT, Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, athlete IWAN THOMAS and presenter JEFF BRAZIER.

While all our competitors have found their fame in their chosen fields outside the ring, each must now bring a new wrestling character to life within it.

Training our celebrities for success are two world famous wrestlers who fought for their reputations on the American wrestling circuit. They will guide, mentor and coach our famous combatants as they battle it out in a specially designed ring.

D-LO BROWN’S six celebrity CRUSADERS will go into battle against JOE LEGEND’S six WARRIORS. With a fierce rivalry already brewing between these two mentors there’s bound to be a few rucks as each vies for their chosen celebrities’ success.

Our combat won’t always be restricted to the four roped walls of a traditional ring as some of the games feature an eight foot drop from the main podium while others take place inside a five metre square cage.

This is wrestling as it’s never been seen before with the celebrities being taught REAL skills to win REAL bouts.

They’ve been training hard and they’re ready for action. Let’s get ready for a celebrity rumble!
