Welcome one and all to another joyous ramble through the British grapple game. A new supershow from a new promotion has been announced this week so I will be taking you through all the latest news from that. I will also be talking about the foreign imports the FWA will be using on upcoming events as well as all the usual news you come accustom to so sit back, relax and as always hopefully enjoy, no promises though.

The UK finally has an event in prospect which may even better the card that we saw for International Showdown and it’s not being backed by The Wrestling Channel. Wrestling merchandise company 1 Up Games will be trying a bit of one up man ship as they try to bring us the biggest ever home produced show to grace our shores. 1 Up Games have been around for a little while now gaining attention through advertising and exclusive deals to supply merchandise to the UK from wrestling promotions around the world.

The company are expanding their operations with this event that they will be running under the banner of 1PW (1 Pro-Wrestling). The event will be happening at the Doncaster Dome on October 1st and what a debut event they have in store. This isn’t the first big wrestling event that has been scheduled for the dome but hopefully it will be the first to actually take place.

The debut show is going to be entitled “Twist of Fate” as headlining will be none other than Matt Hardy who will be making his first UK wrestling appearance since leaving the WWE. He will be taking on TNA monster Abyss in the main event who if I’m not mistaken will be making his UK debut also. If this wasn’t enough Raven will be going one on one with the Sandman in a rematch from Hardcore Homecoming and Austin Airies & Chris Sabin will also be fighting on the card.

With fewer names already announced than what appeared at International Showdown I think this event based on its card already has more drawing ability. With a lot of the guys on International Showdown we had seen them before but it was the first time all on one card at least with this show there are guys we will able to see for the first time. If you have too many international stars they lose their drawing power as individual performers so sometimes you can afford to lose or two and still get the same about asses on seats.

IPW:UK’s first fan convention on July 17th is starting to take shape. Lined up for the event is a Q and A session with Harry “Bulldog” Smith, autograph signings, computer tournaments, quizzes and a match featuring the Kartel Sha Samuels and Terry Fraizer. The convention will cost £2 for entry and will also offer you the chance to buy merchandise from 1 Up Games and Wrestlestuff. The “Weekend of Champions” is certainly shaping up to be a great weekend.

Following a couple of baron months for international talent on FWA shows the FWA brought in Joe E Legend and D’Lo Brown for the Celebrity Carnage tour. This has been followed with the inclusion of Japanese talent for the FWA Noah Limits event on the 18th of June from the Morecambe Dome. The event will be headlined by Doug Williams and Scorpio defending their GHC world tag titles against Naomichi Marufuji and Minoru Suzuki from Pro Wrestling Noah.

If this wasn’t enough the FWA have also announced this week that the American Dragon will be making his much anticipated return to the FWA ring in July for Vendetta on July 10th from the Broxbourne Civic Hall. The card will include the dream team of Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm squaring off against arch enemies James Tighe and Mark Belton.

All Star produced a top night of action from Croydon during the week. One of All Star’s favourite venues and they didn’t disappoint their loyal fans there with another top show. The American Dragon on his return tour to the UK secured a win over Jonny Ace. The main story coming out of the event was Drew McDonald ending Robbie Brookside’s 3 year reign as British heavyweight champion. I don’t think we have seen the end of this bitter feud. WWE hopeful Steve Lewington competed on the card under the name Steve Sonic.

Hart Foundation member Chasyn Rance will be coming to our shores this July along with fellow foundation member Harry Smith. Already lined up for his two week tour are dates with IPW:UK and Premier Promotions. No doubt more events will be booked in over the coming weeks and I look forward to seeing him in action on our shores. For more information on Chasyn go to ChasynRance.com.

There has been much written about OPWO this week as they cancelled two of their shows last weekend. To add to this news and talk on forums, OPWO owner Melicious gave an interview this week in which she attacked the internet fans for their views and comments of OPWO. Whatever happens I do hope they go on to produce some good wrestling shows and give fans that go to any of their upcoming shows a good night. At the moment all I can say though is what does the future hold for this promotion.

Before I go this week I want to say a big well done to RBW for their excellent training seminars last weekend with D’Lo Brown and Doug Williams. From reports of people I know that attended them said they were very worthwhile and helpful. Good work guys.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
