It is with a heavy heart that I welcome you one and all to the penultimate UK Scene column written by yours truly. This week I will be talking about yet another supershow as the team that brought us International Showdown put their hat in the ring again, The Wrestling Channel’s announcement regarding the FWA and much more so sit back relax and please enjoy as a take you through the highs and lows of the UK Scene.

After graduating from university my life is set to make some big changes so after three years here with Wrestling101 and Talk Wrestling Online the time has come to relinquish my crown as Wrestling 101s UK Scene Leader. When I am settled again in life I do endeavour to come back as a columnist for the site but I am unsure when this will be so next weeks column will be the last in the foreseeable future. Not one to go quietly next weeks column will be one not to be missed as I shoot with my thoughts and feelings as well as knowledge on various UK promotions and UK workers. It’s like the draft lottery nobody is safe next week. Before we get to next weeks column I have one level headed informational column left me in I think so here goes nothing.

So after talking about the big 1PW supershow last week the guys behind International Showdown decided they should start making some noise by announcing their second supershow “Universal Uproar” Since the Daily Star mentioned another UK supershow a few weeks ago many people were unsure if they meant the 1PW show or the sequel to International showdown but we have found out that it was the latter this week as the team behind “Universal Uproar” will be joining forces with the Daily Star and London Expo to produce the show.

London Expo drew 20,000 fans to a convention in May that was headlined by wrestlers such as Matt Hardy, Rob Van Dam and the Ultimate Warrior so have decided to come on board and with the Daily Star’s weekly wrestling column it was a no brainer for them to get involved. Due to the Wrestling Channel not having the time to produce two shows a year so the pressure has been put on Alex Shane to produce another supershow from the Coventry Skydome on November 12th.

So it looks like we have a war of the supershow’s on our hands and if history is anything to go by only one can win. They are a month apart in time and hundred miles apart in distance but will the UK fans fork out to support both so will it be a cruel “Twist of Fate” for 1PW or a quiet “Universal Uproar” for Alex Shane and his team, only time will tell. For more information on “Universal Uproar” log on to http://www.universaluproar.com or for “Twist of fate” log on to http://www.1p-w.com.

In a bit of brilliant news the FCW website after many weeks and months of waiting is now back up. The FCW have become a little hard to follow without it but the website is now back up better than ever. So if you have missed your fix of FCW news and information log on to http://www.futurewrestling.co.uk and check out the new website.

Rumours have been rampant recently regarding FWA’s deal with The Wrestling Channel. Many people inside the UK Scene have been commenting that the FWA had lost their deal only to be replaced by IWW. Well after a lot of whispers The Wrestling Channel decided to make a public announcement about it this week. They have basically said the deal with FWA and TWC is ongoing but due to getting no new material for several months they are now actively looking for material from other promotions to fill the gap. So as with most rumours this has been half true as the deal is still ongoing but TWC are probably looking for IWW footage to screen.

I just wanted to quickly take the time to comment on 4FW’s brilliant promotional idea. Over the last two weeks they have been giving away free DVD copies of one of their latest shows to the first 250 people I think it was to contact them with their name and address. They have since been sending out copies free of charge to those people that got in contact. I am still waiting for my copy but I will be sure to share my thoughts after I view it. Be sure to log on to http://www.4fw.co.uk for all your latest 4FW news as they head in their 1st year anniversary show on June 25th.

Before I go this week I have to give a shout out to Real Quality Wrestling and probably like you I was asking who they were this week but they put on one hell of a card last night (17/6) in Kent. The main event saw Professor Ikeda and Karl Krammer vs. The Flatliner and Aviv Maayan. On top of this Sammy Ray took on the Bulldozer, Andy Simmonz wrestled Phil Powers and there was also a match featuring Eamon O’Neil. I haven’t heard any reports on the show yet but if it was half as good as it promised it should have been great.

So that’s it for this week lads and ladies. It is with a tear in my eye that I remove myself from the computer and get ready to bring the curtain down on one of the most consistent and successful columns on the British grapple game in recent history. Like I said at the top of the column I will be going out with a bang next week, no more Mr. nice guy, nobody is safe. As Paul Heyman said at ECW “One night stand” I could have come out here and taken the highroad but hey where is the fun in that. I think there will be a lot of shocked people who read my column next week but I just couldn’t go quietly. So I hope you will all join me for one last time next week.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
