Missing Sweet Sayara ‘may be in France’

Police trying to trace a champion woman wrestler who has been missing from her Norwich home for five weeks are looking at the possibility she may have gone to France.

Julia Hamer, 33, better known to wrestling fans as Sweet Saraya, was last seen by her husband and fellow wrestler Patrick Frary on the evening of August 27.

Although the mother-of-two contacted a mutual friend by phone on September 2, she has not been heard from since.

Officers from Norfolk are working with other forces in the UK, and it is thought she could be in Essex or Cornwall. They also think she may have travelled to France.

Concern is mounting for her welfare as she has never gone missing before and her family are urging her to contact them to let them know she is safe and well.

Mr Frary said: “We are really desperate to hear from her and we just want her to know that there is nothing that we can’t get past as a family – we can sort it out.

“She is a brilliant wife and mother and we just miss her so much and we are so worried about her.”

Ms Hamer has two children, Zak, 14, and Saraya, 13, and is the World Association of Wrestling British women’s champion. She is described as being about 5ft 6in, thin, with red shoulder-length hair and a pale complexion.

Anyone with information is asked to call Earlham police station on 0845 456 4567.
