FWA: Gold Rush Cancelled

FWA have posted the following message on their website concerning Gold Rush:

The FWA very much regrets to announce that Gold Rush, scheduled for Broxbourne Civic Hall on Saturday November 26, has been cancelled.

Ticket sales have been very disappointing for this show, and after considerable thought, the FWA management team decided that it would not be economically viable to hold an event of the quality that FWA fans have come to expect.

Attendance at Broxbourne has been low this year compared to previous years, which we realise is due to a combination of factors – but most notably the arrival of new UK wrestling companies who promote towards Internet fans meaning the market is becoming saturated; and also ineffective local promotion, which is something FWA will address.  We also intend to review ticket prices for Broxbourne events next year.

We realise it is not acceptable to cancel at such short notice but hope our fans realise that we would not have taken this drastic decision unless we felt it was the only option to enable FWA to continue.

Full refunds will be offered to any fans who have purchased tickets. You can obtain refunds by calling the Broxbourne Civic Hall on 01992 441946.

We apologise for the short notice of this cancellation and for any inconvenience it may cause.

There are FWA events booked in for next year at several venues around the country and we will bring you information on these dates once they are set in stone.

On the FWA fan forum, Mark Sloan offered consolation:

Just a small offer towards anybody who has been inconvienced by the event cancellation on Saturday. As part of a goodwill guesture , anybody who has already purchased a ticket for saturday can , if they wish – attend the Academy show this Friday without charge and will recieved some FWA DVDs to redeem their travel costs.

I think this is the least we can do to soften the obvious blow this cancellation will cause
