Welcome to the UK Scene where this week I am going to do something a little different as, well repeating everything that is on the newsboard and commenting on it is sometimes a bind and I have to keep this interesting for myself as well as you true UK wrestling fans.

When Adam did the UK Scene he enjoyed spotlighting a couple of promotions and discussing how they were working.

The issue is that there are now a mirad of promotions out there, all offering something to a wrestler and a wrestling fan and it is hard for people to determine what is good wrestling.

Simply put, good wrestling is whatever entertains you, if you actually get involved in a match then it’s a good match.

First let’s talk SCW, it is great to see that the promotion hasn’t died out completely and are in the position to put on shows, with their forum strong with debate.

It’s alway great when new life is breathed into a promotion, I guess you can liken it to the new manager walking into a football club, wrestlers want to impress and the audience are anticipating the results.

The involvement of WAR to bring them back into the spotlight and to begin selling DVDs is a good move as War has plenty of experience in promoting other promotions and with the signs that they were heading for a crash, SCW has seemed to have pulled its way out of the fire with style.

SCW fell into trouble last year when one show produced fell short of matches and ended early which left fans feeling ripped off. They also fell foul to an online hate campaign in which (as usual) mysterious people who knew a surprising amount of facts for a “fan” began slating the company.

Hopefully this is now all in the past and the new promoter of SCW can concentrate on putting on decent matches for the fans again.

I for one wish them all the best luck!

3CW have really moved on from the warning of their potential I gave you in December to what I would count as the top federation in the North East. I say that with no reservations as I have made my feelings clear about wZw, they are never putting themselves in the spotlight anymore, at least not that I have seen.

Regularly updating news and storylines is definitely a way to give the impression things are going great, it shows that the promotion is excited about what it is doing and when a promotion is excited then so am I.

3CW have been quite shrewd in the way they do business as well, I have noticed that some solid workers are in the roster and they are using established british talent as draws and pitting them against their won to make their own starts to boo or cheer.

Good plan, good advertising and good storylines.

Let’s hope that while things are going good that the company doesn’t self destruct like most do when they become reasonably successful.

That’s it for this week, see you next!
