The final matches have been announced
FIVE COUNT MATCH
JORDAN WRIGHT v JOEY WRIGHT (with BILLY MORRISON)
These two go head-to-head for the last time as they end a feud that started in December. The winner of this match will be the man who keeps his brother down for a five count or garners a submission. The five count rule means that it will be virtually impossible for either man to win this match with a sneaky roll-up and the two former members of The Wright Stuff must instead attempt to incapacitate the other.
In June, Joey beat his brother in a pulsating Ladder Match meaning that Jordan was forced to leave the IWF for three months. Jordan used his time wisely, travelling to Canada to train with Lance Storm and returns in the form of his life. For more information on this rivalry, visit jordanandjoey.com.
IWF Ring of Faith Champion LIAM ‘THE PLAYER’ ATKINSON will be at the show, and is rumoured to be refusing to defend his title. He beat Robbie Ryder last Saturday and does not have to make another defence within this calendar month. IWF management are working hard to change his mind but have stated that he will be in action, title match or not.
It has just been confirmed that ‘FRONT COVER’ RD WOOD will be at the show, no word on who his opponent will be as of yet.
Already announced are…
YOUNGSTA v SHAUN AVERY
The main event will see IWF Champion YOUNGSTA face his brother SHAUN AVERY in a streetfight. As well as being brothers, these two were also long-time stable mates as two thirds of D-Unit. This was until Youngsta turned on his brother in a six-man tag match in June, causing him to lose the IWF Tag Team Championship he held with Jed Masters. One of the stipulations of that match was that Youngsta would lose the IWF title were he pinned and it seemed that he felt that the loss of his brother’s Tag Team Championship was a small price to pay to hold onto his belt. Of course, Shaun did not see it that way and challenged his brother to a streetfight at the Sixth Anniversary Show. The IWF Championship will not be on the line but a victory for Shaun Avery would surely put him in line for a title shot, however, at this point, getting revenge on his younger brother seems much more important to ‘The Dragon Slayer’ than any title belt could be.
TRACY SMOTHERS v ‘TWISTED MESSIAH’ ADAM CHRIST
Saturday 16th September will also see TRACY SMOTHERS come to the IWF for the first time. The widely travelled, much respected veteran will step into the ring with ‘TWISTED MESSIAH’ ADAM CHRIST. This is a huge test for the much-improved Christ who will have a huge task if he is to cause an upset in what is the biggest match of his career thus far. Christ, formerly ‘Wrestling’s Least Convincing Impressionist’ Boogie Knights, has stepped up his game considerably since ditching the comedy in favour of a much more hard edged approach and must be confident, even when stepping into the ring with the former ECW Tag Team Champion.
LOSER EATS DOG FOOD
‘BAD BOY’ JED MASTERS v NICK DAMOCLES
Having been with the IWF since its first show six years ago, (First as referee, then as a wrestler) IWF management have rewarded ‘BAD BOY’ JED MASTERS by offering him the chance to choose any opponent and stipulation for the Sixth Anniversary Show. As a result, he has chosen a repeat of a match he won in 2005 as he faces NICK DAMOCLES in a match in which the loser must eat dog food! Masters, as well as his D-Unit group, has had many problems with Damocles as of late and felt he could not miss the opportunity to embarrass his nemesis one more time. However, Damocles, who vomited profusely after tasting the dog food, is equally determined not to lose and will consider himself the favourite as his patented Chokebreaker has put Masters down for the three count in the past.
LITTLE DRAGON v ROBBIE RYDER v ‘FLOWER CHILD’ JONNY HOGARTH
‘FLOWER CHILD’ JONNY HOGARTH, who was the last ever IWF Junior Academy Champion, has struggled to adapt to life as a member of the IWF roster, a fact that many put down to his embracing of the hippy lifestyle he embraced after travelling around Europe earlier this year. He goes into this match with a significant strength advantage against his two opponents and may be considered a slight favourite, if only he can rediscover his killer instinct. LITTLE DRAGON has stepped up his game as of late, making a name for himself around the country with the likes of IPW:UK. Since ditching his mask he seems a more hard-edged competitor and his martial arts skills and incredible high-flying techniques make him a dangerous and exciting competitor. ROBBIE RYDER has been a tag team specialist as of late, as part of the promising Element Express team with RD Wood, but has shown in the past that he is a more than capable of adapting to singles competition. He has a number of devastating DDT variations at his disposal, any one of which could decide this match between three exciting young grapplers hoping to climb the ranks of the IWF.
Jarrow’s own LEE KYLE will be in attendance and has stated that he has an announcement to make regarding his career. No word as to what this might be as the usually gregarious Kyle has refused to be drawn on the subject.
In sad news, WRIGHT STUFF 2000 (‘J-BIRD’ JOEY WRIGHT and ‘THE BIG MO’ BILLY MORRISON) have declared that the will debut their new single ‘Survive If Bill Lets You’ on the Sixth Anniversary Show. I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether you find the idea of a half teen/half middle aged boyband ‘releasing a single’ a good or bad thing…
