Bret Hart Discusses Drugs, His Stroke, & The State of the Wrestling Business

Bret Hart was recently on LiveAudioWrestling.com and mentioned that he is still not fully recovered from his stroke. At best he is 90% back to normal but still has the odd mental and physical delay. He said it’s particularly tough if somebody makes a smart ass remark because it may take him extra long to process it and make a comeback.

He also mentioned that steroids aren’t the only problem in wrestling and that regular drugs like painkillers and muscle relaxers play a huge part in the negative wrestling culture.

His last point was that Pro Wrestling is much further away from a real sport than it used to be when he was wrestling. He thinks there are now two distinct audiences, sports fans who watch real sports and then wrestling fans, whereas before sports fans were more inclined to watch it.
