The 436’th Edition of WWE SmackDown! took place from the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY and will be the final new SmackDown! of 2007:

Match Results

  • Finlay & Hornswoggle def. The Great Khali & Ranjin Singh (in his wrestling debut) by Hornswoggle pinning Ranjin Singh following the Tadpole Splash.
  • 6-Man Tag: CM Punk (ECW), Kane (SmackDown!), & Rey Mysterio (SmackDown!) def. MVP (SmackDown!), Big Daddy V (ECW), & Mark Henry (SmackDown!) by Rey Mysterio pinning Mark Henry following a springboard frog splash.
  • Santa Match*: Santa Festus def. Santa Deuce by pin following the one-man flapjack.
  • World Heavyweight Championship: 3-on-1 Handicap Match: Champion Must Be Pinned**: Batista def. Edge (c) & The Edge-Heads*** (formerly The Major Brothers) by DQ when Zack Ryder chop-blocked the back of Batista’s knee with a steel chair; Edge retains.

Match Quality

  1. World Heavyweight Title Match
  2. CM Punk, Kane, & Rey Mysterio Vs. MVP, Big Daddy V, & Mark Henry
  3. Santa Match
  4. Finlay & Hornswoggle Vs. The Great Khali & Ranjin Singh

Note(s)

*This match featured the competitors (Deuce & Festus) dressed up in Santa outfits while wrestling.

**This match was originally supposed to be Edge Vs. Batista one-on-one for the World Heavyweight Title, but just as the match was to begin, General Manager Vickie Guerrero announced that the World Title would be on the line, but in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match. After Batista pinned Zack Ryder following a spinebuster, he was announced as the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, but ala the 3-on-1 Handicap Match for the ECW Title at Judgment Day (with The McMahons & Umaga Vs. Lashley), Vickie announced that Edge must be defeated by pin or submission to lose the title.

***Near the top of the show, The Major Brothers were brought to the ring by Edge and Edge dubbed them "The Edge-Heads" and they revealed their names to be Zack Ryder (Brett Major) and Curt Hawkins (Brian Major).

Also, I will not be posting results for the Christmas Edition of ECW, nor will I be posting the results of the December 28 editon of SmackDown. ECW will be a Best of ECW 2007 show and SmackDown! will be a Greatest WWE Matches of 2007 special, so there will be no need to report results for "best of" shows. I will still be posting the results for the 2007 WWE Tribute to the Troops Special that airs this Monday.
