*WWE’s Executive Vice President (and son of the Chairman) Shane McMahon announced that a new RAW General Manager would be announced on RAW and that the new GM made two new matches- CM Punk Vs. WWE’s Hottest New Free Agent (which turned out to be a returning William Regal; as a free agent, Regal can wrestle on all three brands) and Cena & Batista would face JBL & Kane. In a move that made me think it might be an announcer, the mysterious new GM replaced Jerry Lawler’s original partner, Jim Duggan with non-wrestler Michael Cole. After the match, Mike Adamle filled in for Cole at the announce position and later, SmackDown’s Jim Ross joined those two to have a representative from all three brands at the RAW Announce Table.
Shane McMahon announced at the end of the night that RAW’s new General Manager is none other than………………..ECW’s Play-by-Play guy, Mike Adamle (yes, stumbling Mike Adamle). Adamle announced that at SummerSlam, John Cena will face Batista one-on-one.
Don’t forget that WWE will present Saturday Night’s Main Event this Saturday (August 2) at 9/8c on NBC. The show was taped with tonight’s RAW so it will also be in the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. SmackDown’s Jim Ross & RAW’s Jerry "The King" Lawler will reunite to call the event. Jenny McCarthy will also be there with various celebrity appearances on behalf of Generation Rescue (see WWE.com). Two matches were announced for the event on RAW- First, it will be CTC (Cena & Cryme Tyme) & Batista taking on JBL, Kane, & Priceless. Second, it will be Edge facing off with Jeff Hardy.
