WWE Spoilers: More on Deuce Becoming Sim Snuka on RAW

The following is from WWE.com:

Is the Superstar formerly known as Deuce ditching his pomade and leather jacket for a more “native” approach? On the Dec. 15, 2008, edition of Raw, the former WWE Tag Team Champion revealed that he was the son of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, and demanded to be introduced by his true name, Sim Snuka.

As Snuka prepared to battle Rey Mysterio, his surprise revelation served to give some context to the presence of Cody Rhodes & Manu at ringside, being that the young athletes are the sons of WWE Hall of Famers Dusty Rhodes and Afa the Wild Samoan, respectively. The second-generation Superstar’s decision to revert back to his true name does raise several other questions, however.

Since early 2007, Snuka (competing under the nom de ring Deuce) has proven himself a formidable foe, capturing the WWE Tag Team Title on SmackDown before making his move to Raw as part of the 2008 Draft. Throughout that period, however, he has kept his familial link to WWE’s past a closely guarded secret. While this could possibly be chalked up to a talented Superstar hoping to make his own way, not relying upon the groundwork laid by his legendary father, that line of thinking does nothing to illuminate why the son of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka would choose to make his ancestry known now.

Perhaps Sim Snuka experienced something outside the ring that caused him to more fully embrace his heritage and the groundbreaking work done by his father. Or, more cynically perhaps, maybe he is ready to play a more prominent role on Raw, and hopes to leverage his father’s identity to do just that. One other possibility, however, involves two other second-generation Superstars who observed, and even became involved in, Sim’s match against Rey Mysterio: Cody Rhodes & Manu.

Recently, Rhodes & Manu publicly joined forces with another Superstar who boasts an impressive family tree, former World Heavyweight and WWE Champion Randy Orton. Referencing their shared legendary backgrounds, Orton stated “the legacy is born,” and since then the three have been a force to be reckoned with on Raw. Eagle-eyed Raw viewers noted that before Sim even took the microphone in hand, Rhodes & Manu were already seated at ringside. It stands to reason that the two multi-generation Superstars had advance knowledge of Sim’s announcement, otherwise, what purpose would they have had in attending the match?

The above bit of logic sheds no light, however, on the nature of Sim’s connection to Rhodes & Manu, the existence of which was further evidenced by the two young ring warriors attacking Snuka’s opponent during the match. Could Orton and company be looking to expand their ranks by recruiting other second-generation Superstars? Recent weeks have seen the Legend Killer, Rhodes & Manu take out Superstars as domineering as World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and The Animal Batista. What havoc could their alliance wreak if they continued to expand?

Possibly even more troublesome, however, is the existence of even more Superstars with squared circle lineage. Who could possibly stand against this already fearsome group if they were to bring WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo or even the submission technician Natalya into the fold?

While the answers to all of these questions are currently unclear, they are sure to be revealed on Raw in the coming weeks. To learn more about Sim Snuka’s motivations, and the mysterious intentions of Orton, Rhodes & Manu, make sure to tune into Raw, Monday nights at 9/8 CT only on USA Network.
