WWE: Night of Champions Pay-Per-View Replacing Breaking Point In September!

The annual Night of Champions pay-per-view that was moved from the last week in June to the last week in July earlier this year has been moved again. Now the Night of Champions event will be the September pay-per-view for the WWE; replacing the Breaking Point event that replaced Unforgiven this year. Next year, Night of Champions will take place on September 19 from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. To clear everything up, here is the current pay-per-view schedule for the remainder of 2009 and for 2010:

  • WWE Survivor Series: November 22, 2009 from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
  • WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs: December 13, 2009 from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX
  • WWE Royal Rumble: January 31, 2010 from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA
  • WWE Elimination Chamber: February 21, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE WrestleMania XXVI: March 28, 2010 from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ
  • WWE Backlash: April 25, 2010 from the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD
  • WWE Extreme Rules: May 23, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE The Bash: June 27, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE SummerSlam: August 15, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE Night of Champions: September 19, 2010 from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL
  • WWE Hell in a Cell: October 3, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE Bragging Rights: October 24, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE Survivor Series: November 21, 2010 (venue to be announced)
  • WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs: December 12, 2010 (venue to be announced)

None of this has been confirmed by the WWE as of this post.

It looks like, if this schedule change is true, that WWE will no longer be having a pay-per-view in July, giving a seven week build to SummerSlam next year. SummerSlam has been moved to take place one week earlier next year. It’s rumored that the Elimination Chamber and Hell in a Cell events might be taken off the schedule or re-arranged as well.
