WWE Week in Review: Edition CXVII
July 25, 2010- July 31, 2010

Welcome to the one-hundred seventeenth edition of the WWE Week in Review. Feel free to contact me on TWO or Wrestling 101 anytime with comments, questions, and anything in between. Make sure to check out the section at the end of the article highlighting a different WWE Superstar, Diva, or Alumni every week. I have also added a section that lists where WWE will be hosting their weekly television shows and monthly pay-per-views.

The 896th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. One week after John Cena revealed his dream team of himself, Edge, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Great Khali, and WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart capable of taking down The Nexus at SummerSlam, RAW would see how the seven members of The Nexus would respond to Cena’s formidable army as SummerSlam rapidly approaches!

Monday Night RAW (July 26, 2010)
Good Week For: Randy Orton (defeated Jey Uso and laid out both WWE Champion Sheamus and The Miz with the RKO)
Bad Week For: Cena’s Army (suffered severe dissention throughout the night)

One week after surprising The Nexus, and the world, by introducing his dream team of Superstars capable of taking down The Nexus at SummerSlam, the show kicks off with the Superstar responsible for the team, John Cena! Cena recalls the destruction left by The Nexus over the last seven weeks of their existence before proclaiming that he assembled a group of Superstars who had “enough” and vows to “beat” and ultimately “end” The Nexus at SummerSlam! Cena then states that, at SummerSlam, he and his team will show that The Nexus is “not invincible”! Cena continues that, every week, The Nexus gains “power” and by doing so, they gain “influence” and, if they don’t stop The Nexus, the group will take over RAW! Cena then states that every member of his team was selected for a “reason”! However, Cena is then interrupted by one his SummerSlam teammates, Chris Jericho, who comes to the ring and states that he was waiting backstage for Cena to refer to it as his team before stating that he did not get involved to be a part of “Cena’s team” and he did not get involved to “pander” to the fans, he got involved because of his “personal problems” with The Nexus and Wade Barrett! Jericho continues that Barrett was indirectly influenced by him to form The Nexus and, being that he knows The Nexus better than Cena, he is more qualified to lead the team! Cena responds by saying that Jericho can lead the team, because all he wants to do is beat The Nexus! Jericho then shouts at Cena that the team will do what he “wants” to do before Cena slaps the microphone out of Jericho’s hand! Cena then tells Jericho that it is not about either one of them, it is about the “business” and they must “co-exist” before telling Jericho that he is “essential” to the team! Jericho then retrieves his microphone and tells Cena that he knows how “essential” he is to the team and the only chance that the team has to beat The Nexus at SummerSlam is his presence on the team! Jericho then states that The Nexus is not the only “threat” to the WWE that Cena is as well, because Cena is just like The Nexus and the “only difference” is that Cena does it with the support of the fans! Jericho then calls Cena a “puppet” for the fans before vowing that, once The Nexus is taken care of, he will get “rid” of John Cena and he is going to do it with his team or on his own! Cena then challenges Jericho to take his “best shot” before the anonymous General Manager of RAW chimes in and announces that the 7-on-7 Tag Match between Cena’s Army and The Nexus at SummerSlam is now going to be an Elimination Match! The anonymous GM’s email also announces that The Nexus will face seven RAW Superstars in a 7-on-7 Elimination Tag Match on RAW and that John Cena and Chris Jericho will be forced to work on the same team! The email then reads that “if you’re not down with that, I’ve got two words for you”! Can John Cena & Chris Jericho co-exist as a team? Who will The Nexus face in their 7-on-7 Elimination Tag Match on RAW?

One week after narrowly escaping losing his WWE Title to “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” The Miz, WWE Champion Sheamus was at ringside to watch the #1 Contender for his WWE Title at SummerSlam, “The Viper” Randy Orton, as Orton went one-on-one with one-half of The Usos, Jey Uso! In the end, it was Randy Orton fending off Jimmy Uso before hitting the RKO On Jey Uso en route to picking up the win! After the match, Orton had his sights set on Sheamus at ringside when Jimmy Uso blasted Orton from behind, but Orton was able to fight back, but with Orton’s back turned, Sheamus comes in and tries to hit the pump kick on Orton, but Orton dodges it and Sheamus lays out Jimmy Uso by mistake before Orton lays out the WWE Champion with the RKO! With Sheamus vulnerable, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” The Miz comes out with a referee in tow and announces that he is cashing in his Money-in-the-Bank title opportunity, but before the match can officially begin, Randy Orton re-enters the ring and lays The Miz out with the RKO and running The Miz’s opportunity to win the WWE Title! With SummerSlam just a few weeks away, Randy Orton seems unstoppable, but can Randy Orton defeat Sheamus and win the WWE Title at “The Biggest Event of the Summer”?

Backstage, Edge is talking with Ted DiBiase and Maryse, telling DiBiase that he wishes DiBiase was on the team instead of The Great Khali! DiBiase responds by saying that, after he defeats John Morrison, then Cena will see that he belongs on the team instead of Khali or Morrison! Edge then vows that, if Cena does not replace Khali on the team, then he will “force the hand” of Cena and take out The Great Khali himself! However, as Edge walks away, it is revealed that Khali’s brother and translator, Ranjin Singh, overheard the conversation! Will Edge really attempt to take out The Great Khali?

Back in the ring, WWE Champion Sheamus and United States Champion The Miz are shouting at each other over what just happened with Randy Orton, but the anonymous RAW GM chimes in and announces that the team that John Cena & Chris Jericho will face will be a “team of champions” as Sheamus & The Miz will face Cena & Jericho! Can either of these teams co-exist long enough to beat their opponents?

Backstage, The Great Khali & Ranjin Singh confront Edge regarding Edge’s comments about Khali earlier and Edge tries to back his way out his comments, but The Great Khali challenges Edge to a match and Edge relunctantly agrees, but adds that, if Khali loses, then he is off of Cena’s team! Can Edge defeat the gargantuan Great Khali to force Khali off of Cena’s team?

Then it was time for “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge to go one-on-one with The Great Khali with the stipulation that, if Khali loses, then he is off Cena’s SummerSlam team! However, the match is interrupted by The Nexus making their way to the ring, which prompts Edge, as well as Ranjin Singh, to hightail it through the crowd! The Nexus then enters the ring and surrounds The Great Khali, preparing to attack Khali, but The Nexus shockingly stands aside and lets Khali leave unscathed! After leaving so much destruction on anyone and anything over the last several weeks, what kept The Nexus from attacking The Great Khali?

Just a few weeks before they face Cena’s Army in a 7-on-7 Elimination Tag Match at SummerSlam, The Nexus would face Team RAW; a team consisting of “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, Yoshi Tatsu, “The Bizarre Lonestar” Goldust, Unified WWE Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty, & WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler! The Nexus took a quick advantage as Michael Tarver hit a modified powerslam en route to eliminating Yoshi Tatsu, putting The Nexus up seven members to Team RAW’s six! Jerry “The King” Lawler was the next to go as Heath Slater was able to hit a modified STO on the Hall of Famer to eliminate Lawler and leave The Nexus completely intact, while Team RAW gets put down to five members! The Nexus would continue to roll as Heath Slater would hit the same STO maneuver on David Hart Smith en route to eliminating one-half of the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions as The Nexus keeps all seven of their members against the four remaining members of Team RAW! David Otunga was the next one to score an elimination as Otunga would plant Goldust with his modified spinebuster en route to eliminating Goldust, leaving Team RAW to a three-on-seven disadvantage! Though Mark Henry put up a good fight, Skip Sheffield was able to catch “The World’s Strongest Man” with a clothesline en route to eliminating Henry, leaving Tyson Kidd & Evan Bourne to face all seven members of The Nexus! Tyson Kidd was quickly dealt with by The Nexus as Skip Sheffield catches Kidd with a clothesline before tagging Darren Young in, who plants the Unified WWE Tag Team Champion with a modified full nelson slam en route to eliminating Tyson Kidd! With Evan Bourne left to face The Nexus, Wade Barrett made quick work of the high-flyer by hitting the Barrett Wasteland en route to eliminating Bourne and winning the match without losing a member! After the match, The Nexus assaults Evan Bourne and leaves Bourne laid out! Wade Barrett then states that the “cracks” are starting to form in Cena’s team and the “cracks” are forming due to their “individual egos”! Barrett then vows that the “cracks” will destroy the “foundation” of Cena’s team at SummerSlam! Skip Sheffield then states that Cena has a “team of individuals” while they have a “single focus” and no member of Cena’a team would “sacrifice” themselves like they would do and have done and Skip then proclaims that The Nexus is “unbreakable”! Michael Tarver then states that they will eliminate all of the opposing team at SummerSlam until there is just one Superstar left and that he hopes that individual is John Cena! Tarver continues that they will treat Cena like a “piece of meat” and they will “sink their teeth in” and rip Cena apart until every one of them has had their “fill”! Tarver then proclaims that they will then put Cena out of his “misery” and then it will be “over in more ways than one”! Can The Nexus be as dominant against Cena’s team at SummerSlam as they were against Team RAW?

The Divas Champion was in action on RAW as Alicia Fox would go one-on-one with Brie Bella in a non-title match. During the match, Brie Bella was going to pull the switch with her twin sister, Nikki, but Jillian came out and prevented the switch, which led to Alicia Fox hitting the Fox Kick en route to picking up the win! After the match, Jillian presents her “gift” to the Divas Champion as Jillian starts to sing to Alicia Fox, but Fox attacks Jillian and leaves “The Sour Songstress” laid out with the Fox Kick!

With R-Truth a guest on commentary at ringside, R-Truth’s friend and Cena’s Army teammate, “The Monday Night Delight” John Morrison would go one-on-one with “The Fortunate Son” Ted DiBiase! During the match, John Morrison was set to deliver Starship Pain to Ted DiBiase, but Maryse got on the apron, which distracted Morrison long enough for DiBiase to roll Morrison up, but when DiBiase put his feet on the ropes to try and gain the leverage to win the match, but R-Truth knocks DiBiase’s feet off the ropes! DiBiase would then shove the face of R-Truth, which would prompt R-Truth to get on the apron of the ring where Morrison would accidentally collide heads with R-Truth, leading to DiBiase pinning Morrison for the win! After the match, John Morrison was furious with R-Truth and, as the two argued, John Cena looked on backstage very worried about the state of his SummerSlam team! Can Cena’s team pull together in time for SummerSlam?

Then it was time for the main event as two dysfunctional teams would face off as John Cena would team with his SummerSlam teammate, Chris Jericho, to face the “team of champions”, WWE Champion Sheamus and United States Champion & “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” The Miz! In the end, it looked like John Cena was poised for victory, but Chris Jericho would enter the ring and hit the Codebreaker on Cena, while on the other side of the ring, The Miz tags himself in and pins Cena to pick up the win for himself and Sheamus! After the match, Chris Jericho came back into the ring and locked in the Walls of Jericho on Cena, but Cena was able to counter it and lock in his STF! The Great Khali would then enter the ring to separate Cena and Jericho, but Edge would come in and hit the Spear on Khali! R-Truth and John Morrison would then hit the ring to try and bring the team back on the same page as Edge and John Cena argues! This leads to all seven members of Cena’s Army arguing with Khali laying out both Edge and John Morrison before the team continues to argue! With Cena’s Army quickly falling apart, can John Cena bring the team together in time for SummerSlam or will The Nexus be able to take advantage of the severe dissention of Cena’s team?

The eighth edition of WWE NXT Season Two came to you from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. After eight weeks of competing for their dream, a new NXT poll compiled by the WWE Pros and the WWE fans would see Kaval, Alex Riley, “Showtime” Percy Watson, Lucky Cannon, Eli Cottonwood, or Husky Harris eliminated from the NXT competition!

WWE NXT (July 27, 2010)
Good Week For: Michael McGillicutty (was ranked the new number one NXT Rookie)
Bad Week For: Eli Cottonwood (was the second Rookie eliminated from NXT)

Detailed Results Follow…

With the WWE Pros seated on the stage, the show kicks off with NXT Host Matt Striker, who brings out the seven NXT Rookies as “Showtime” Percy Watson, Alex Riley, Michael McGillicutty, Kaval, Husky Harris, Eli Cottonwood, & Lucky Cannon line up in the ring to discover which one of them would be eliminated from NXT! Striker then states that the Rookies will each get one minute to discuss whatever they choose as long as it is why they should not be eliminated from NXT! Lucky Cannon states his topic is “friends”, because he only had one friend growing up, “nobody” and Cannon continues that, if he did well in school or in sports, no one cared, and if he was injured, no one cared, but now that he is on NXT, the fans care about him and what he does before stating that, thanks to “nobody”, he is “somebody”! Eli Cottonwood was up next and his topic of discussion was “eyes” as the unique big man explained that he can stare down the biggest competitors that WWE has to offer, whether it be World Heavyweight Champion Kane or even The Undertaker! Husky Harris was up next with his selected topic of “Husky” as Husky Harris states that the other Rookies “look like Tarzan and fights like Jane” before proclaiming that he “looks like Husky” and he “fights like an army tank with a Ferrari engine”! Kaval was up next with his chosen topic of “dreams” as he had a “dream” growing up to perform on the “greatest stage of them all”, but he had people tell him he did not “belong”! Kaval then proclaims that he competed for over a decade and it is not the “size of the fighter, but the size of the fight he brings” and that is why he is the next breakout star! Michael McGillicutty is up next and McGillicutty calls out The Miz for calling him “mediocre” in a video package for him last week and challenges The Miz to face him so he can prove that he is “awesome”! The Miz responds by telling McGillicutty to concentrate on becoming a Superstar and until then, he can be a “wannabe”! Alex Riley is up next and Riley selects the topic of “Starbucks” before referring to Kaval as a “guy who thinks he is trying out for a Morgan Freeman part as the voice of God” and referring to Percy Watson as a “poor, poor, poor imitation of Eddie Murphy”! Riley continues that in the “NXT galaxy”, he might as well be the “sun” because everything on NXT “revolves” around him and that there are no “stars” to be found, only “Starbucks employees”! Then it was Percy Watson’s turn with Watson’s topic of “having a good time” and Percy states that his motto is “work hard, play harder” before urging the fans to get “Percified”! After appealing to the fans, which NXT Rookie will be eliminated via the second NXT Poll compiled by the WWE Pros and WWE fans?

With the second NXT elimination looming, “Showtime” Percy Watson would be looking to impress the WWE Pros and WWE fans into keeping him in the competition as the Rookie would go one-on-one with WWE Pro Zack Ryder! In the end, it was Percy Watson hitting an impressive standing moonsault that allowed “Showtime” to become the first Rookie to defeat a WWE Pro in one-on-one competition! Will this impressive win keep Percy Watson from being eliminated?

With the second NXT elimination rapidly approaching, NXT Rookies would square off as Eli Cottonwood would go one-on-one with the immune Rookie, Michael McGillicutty! In the end, it was Michael McGillicutty hitting his modified swinging neckbreaker en route to picking up the win over Eli Cottonwood! Could this loss lead to Eli Cottonwood getting eliminated from NXT?

With the second NXT elimination just minutes away, Rookies would square off as Kaval would go one-on-one with Husky Harris! In the end, it was LayCool inadvertently getting knocked off of the ring apron that distracted Kaval long enough for Husky Harris to take advantage and ultimately hit the Husky Senton to pick up the win! Could this win keep Husky Harris from getting eliminated? Could this loss lead to Kaval getting eliminated?

Then it was time for a dream to end as the second NXT Poll would result in the second NXT elimination as Kaval, Lucky Cannon, Husky Harris, Alex Riley, Eli Cottonwood, & “Showtime” Percy Watson line up at ringside to learn their fates! The second NXT Poll was then revealed as the Rookie who was immune from elimination, Michael McGillicutty, took the number one spot from Kaval as Kaval now resides as the number two Rookie! The number three Rookie was revealed to be Alex Riley, who rose a spot from the first NXT Poll! After being number two in the first NXT Poll, the number four Rookie was “Showtime” Percy Watson! The number five Rookie was then revealed to be Lucky Cannon, meaning that either Husky Harris or Eli Cottonwood would be eliminated from NXT! The NXT Poll then revealed that Husky Harris secured the number six spot, meaning that Eli Cottonwood was eliminated! When given the option to deliver some parting words, the unstable Eli Cottonwood went berserk and attacked Husky Harris before several other Rookies got involved and fought Cottonwood off, but before leaving, Cottonwood confronted and shoved his WWE Pro, John Morrison! With Eli Cottonwood gone, Husky Harris was asked about narrowly escaping elimination for the second time and Harris responded by proclaiming that it is his competition and he “deserves” to win! The new top Rookie, Michael McGillicutty, then stated that he is on the “right path” and he will win NXT and, in the future, will be a World Champion! Alex Riley then states that he is “better” than the number two and number one Rookies and he will take the number one spot! This comment sparks a brawl between Alex Riley and the current number one Michael McGillicutty, but Eli Cottonwood then comes back down as Eli attacks Husky Harris and Lucky Cannon as the three engage in a brawl! With only six Rookies remaining, who will be eliminated next and who will be WWE’s next breakout star?

The 67th edition of WWE Superstars came to you from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX and from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. “The Ballin’ Superstar” MVP would be in action on Superstars as the WWE Pro on NXT would go one-on-one with Chavo Guerrero. After joining up with MVP on last week’s SmackDown to defeat The Dude Busters, “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters would go one-on-one with one-half of The Dude Busters, Caylen Croft. Superstars would also see international tag team action as the comical team of Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov would face the Puerto Rican high-flyer Primo and the 2008 King of the Ring William Regal.

WWE Superstars (July 29, 2010)
Good Week For: MVP (picked up a hard-fought win over Chavo Guerrero in the main event)
Bad Week For: Chris Masters (was defeated by Caylen Croft)

The opening match of the night saw international tag team action as the comical team of Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov would face the team of the Puerto Rican high-flyer Primo and the 2008 King of the Ring William Regal. In the end, it was Santino Marella keeping William Regal at bay while Vladimir Kozlov delivered the devastating Iron Curtain to Primo en route to picking up the win for the team!

After being attacked by The Dude Busters three weeks ago on WWE Superstars and after teaming with MVP to defeat Caylen Croft & Trent Barretta, “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters would go one-on-one with one-half of The Dude Busters, Caylen Croft! During the match, the bout spilled to the outside where Trent Barretta was set to interfere on his tag team partner’s behalf, but Chris Masters intervenes and locks the Masterlock on Barretta to prevent him from interfering, however, this allowed Caylen Croft to take advantage inside the ring as Croft planted Masters with a DDT en route to picking up a big win! How will Chris Masters respond to this loss?

Then it was time for the main event as, with his NXT Rookie “Showtime” Percy Watson in tow, “The Ballin’ Superstar” MVP would go one-on-one with Chavo Guerrero. At the end of a hard-fought match, it was MVP coming out of nowhere with the Play of the Day en route to picking up the win!

The 571st edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. After defeating Jack Swagger at WWE Money-in-the-Bank and defeating “The All-American American” again last week in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to become the new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio would go one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger in a No Disqualification Match! After narrowly escaping with the Women’s Title by defeating Kelly Kelly at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, Layla would defend her Women’s Title on SmackDown, but this time, Layla would be defending the prestigious gold against Kelly Kelly’s best friend, Tiffany!

Friday Night SmackDown (July 30, 2010)
Good Week For: The Straightedge Society (bounced back from the past two weeks’ of humiliation by destroying the right hand of Big Show)
Bad Week For: Rey Mysterio & Jack Swagger (were both hurled into the Gulf of Mexico)

Detailed Results Follow…

One week after learning that he will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam, the World Heavyweight Champion, Kane, kicks off SmackDown! Kane says that for “sixty days and sixty nights” by his brother, The Undertaker’s bedside for any “sign” from “The Deadman” as to who was responsible for the attack that left him in a vegetative! Kane then reveals that the “unthinkable happened” when he witnessed his brother move and open his eyes! Kane continues that The Undertaker managed to speak and that his brother spoke only two words, but those two words revealed the identity of his assailant! Kane then states that, when he heard the name, a “tidal wave of anger” overtook him as he could not believe what he had heard as the guilty party had been “staring” him in the eyes the entire time, but he was too “blind to see it” before revealing the man responsible for his brother’s state was none other than Rey Mysterio! Kane then reveals that, after uttering the name of Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker fell back into his unconscious state! Kane continues that the more he thought about it, the more he realized that it was “true” and that it “made all the sense in the world”! Kane then explains that, before the Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, The Undertaker defeated Rey Mysterio for a spot in the Fatal 4-Way World Heavyweight Title match, but after The Undertaker was put in a vegetative state, Rey Mysterio took the available spot and ultimately won the World Heavyweight Title! Kane then proclaims that his brother was not able to “stop” Rey Mysterio, but he “stopped” Rey by winning the World Heavyweight Title and bringing the “holy grail” back to the “dark side”! Kane then emphatically proclaims that, at SummerSlam, “victory” will not “satisfy” his “appetite for vengeance” and that he will make Rey “pay” for his “sins” and force Rey experience what The Undertaker has “endured” before vowing to stuff Rey Mysterio into a casket and will send Rey to “eternal hell”! Kane then vows that, after SummerSlam, the Rey Mysterio that everyone knows will “cease to exist” and that he will force Rey to “repent” what Mysterio did to The Undertaker and “all that will be left will be the darkness” for Rey Mysterio! How will Rey Mysterio respond to the accusations of Kane? Can anyone stop Kane from destroying Rey Mysterio?

The opening match of the night saw Christian in action as “Captain Charisma” went one-on-one with “The Chosen One” Drew McIntyre! Despite Drew McIntyre viciously assaulting the left shoulder of Christian throughout the match, including ramming Christian’s shoulder into the ring structure, steel steps, and steel ring post, Christian was still able to catch McIntyre out of nowhere with a roll-up to win the match! How will Drew McIntyre respond to this loss?

Backstage, an enraged CM Punk is with his Straightedge Society of Luke Gallows, the newly unmasked Joey Mercury, & Serena as “The Straightedge Savior” gets in the face of his followers and blames them all for him having his head shaved, having his arm injured by Kane, and getting unmasked by Big Show before shouting at the three of them that they are “nothing” without him and that they had better “do something” or they might as well “pack their bags”! What will The Straightedge Society do? Is CM Punk serious about disbanding The Straightedge Society?

After being ordered to “do something” by his leader, CM Punk, “The Straightedge Disciple” Luke Gallows would be looking to do so as Gallows would go one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show! During the match, the bout spilled to the outside where CM Punk would deliver a kick to the knee of Big Show before Joey Mercury joins in and The Straightedge Society would proceed to hold Big Show down with his hand on the steel steps as CM Punk, and even Serena, would methodically stomp away at the hand of Big Show to the point of Big Show passing out from the unbearable pain inflicted on him! After the vicious attack, CM Punk would stuff his arm sling into the face of Big Show, shouting that Big Show “needs it more” than he does! What is the status of Big Show following this attack by The Straightedge Society?

One week after Vickie Guerrero aided Dolph Ziggler in defeating him, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston would go one-on-one with Dolph Ziggler in a rematch from last week and, if Dolph wins, he would earn a shot at the Intercontinental Title on next week’s SmackDown! During the match, Vickie Guerrero once again got involved, this time slapping Kofi Kingston across the face! The slap enraged Kofi as the Intercontinental Champion relentlessly pounded Dolph Ziggler to the point of getting disqualified! Even after being disqualified, Kofi continued to assault Dolph, hurling Dolph over the announce table before bouncing Dolph’s head off of the announce table before finally tossing Dolph into the ringside barricade! Referees finally pulled Kofi off of Dolph, but the fact still remains that Dolph did defeat Kofi, meaning that Kofi will defend the Intercontinental Title against Dolph on next week’s SmackDown! Can Kofi Kingston retain the Intercontinental Title or will Dolph Ziggler finally win the Intercontinental Championship?

The Women’s Title was up for grabs on SmackDown as, after successfully defending her gold at WWE Money-in-the-Bank against Kelly Kelly, Layla, with her LayCool teammate Michelle McCool at ringside, would defend the Women’s Title against Kelly Kelly’s best friend, Tiffany! However, before the match could begin, SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero came out to announce that as the “co-Women’s Champions”, either member of LayCool can defend the gold before announcing that Michelle McCool would defend the Women’s Title instead of Layla! During the match, Layla grabbed the ankle of Tiffany, but Kelly Kelly intervened, which allowed Tiffany to take Layla out of the match! However, Michelle McCool would take advantage of the distraction en route to hitting the Faith Breaker to win the match and successfully retain the Women’s Title! After the match, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long appears and states that there is only “one Women’s Championship” and that LayCool has one week to decide, amongst themselves, who is the true Women’s Champion or he will decide for them next week! Can Michelle McCool & Layla decide which one of them will represent SmackDown as the sole Women’s Champion or will SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long be forced to make the decision for LayCool?

Then it was time for the main event as the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, Rey Mysterio, would go one-on-one with “The All-American American” Jack Swagger in a No Disqualification Match! In a match where, essentially, anything goes, Jack Swagger took full advantage and then some as Swagger fought Rey Mysterio through the crowd, through the backstage area, outside of the arena, into a traffic-filled street and onto the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, where Rey fought back and ultimately tossed “The All-American American” into the icy cold Gulf of Mexico water! Rey Mysterio thought he dodged a bullet by not getting thrown into the Gulf, but the World Heavyweight Champion, Kane, grabbed Rey by the throat and hurled Mysterio into the icy Gulf as well! How will Rey Mysterio respond to being tossed into the Gulf of Mexico by Kane? What else does Kane have in store for his SummerSlam opponent?
