WWE Friday Night SmackDown August 27, 2010 Detailed Results

The 575th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Save Mart Center at Fresno State in Fresno, CA. After making his shocking return at SummerSlam only to be planted with the Tombstone Piledriver by his own brother, Kane, “The Phenom” of the WWE would make his return to SmackDown as the one and only Undertaker will make his first SmackDown appearance since the May 28 edition of SmackDown, which was just before he was attacked by Kane and left in a vegetative state! While his brother, The Undertaker, will make his return to SmackDown, World Heavyweight Champion Kane would be in action on SmackDown as the sinister “Big Red Machine” would go one-on-one with the Superstar he defended the gold against at SummerSlam, “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio, as the two rivals would square off in a non-title No Disqualification Match! After SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero cost him the Intercontinental Title a few weeks ago and Vickie once again cost him in the SummerSlam rematch for the Intercontinental Title last week, Kofi Kingston would get another shot at regaining the gold as Kofi would challenge Intercontinental Champion and Vickie Guerrero’s boyfriend Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title and if Dolph got disqualified in the match, then Ziggler would lose the title!

The show kicks off in a major way as, in a SummerSlam rematch, the World Heavyweight Champion Kane would go one-on-one with an injured Rey Mysterio, who was still recovering from his match against Alberto Del Rio last week, in a non-title No Disqualification Match! Through kendo sticks and steel chairs, it looked like Rey Mysterio would pick up the win after hitting the 619, but when Rey went to capitalize with the seated senton, Kane was able to catch Mysterio by the throat and deliver a vicious chokeslam on top of a steel chair en route to the World Heavyweight Champion picking up the win! After the match, a trainer and referees help Rey Mysterio out of the ring, but the confident new SmackDown Superstar who injured the shoulder of Rey and forced him tap out last week emerged as Alberto Del Rio made his way to ringside and mockingly asked Rey if Mysterio was going to be okay before Del Rio would grab the injured Mysterio and throw Rey, shoulder-first, into the ringstone barricade before once again locking in his cross armbreaker submission! Del Rio would eventually release the hold and would start to leave before coming back and grabbing the steel chair in the ring before proceeding to lock Rey’s arm in the chair and throwing Rey, shoulder-first, into the steel post! What is the status of Rey Mysterio after all of the punishment to his shoulder over the last two weeks at the hands of Alberto Del Rio?

With The Straightedge Society of Luke Gallows, Serena, & Joseph Mercury at ringside, “The Straightedge Savior” CM Punk was in action against “The Brooklyn Baller” JTG! At the end, it was CM Punk hitting the GTS to seemingly win the match, but Punk would lock in the Anaconda Vice and force JTG to tap out to pick up the impressive win! After the match, CM Punk orders The Straightedge Society to enter the ring and kneel before him as he states that he “leads by example” and he expects The Straightedge Society to do like he does when Luke Gallows faces Big Show later! Punk then tells The Straightedge Society to “be better or be gone”! Can The Straightedge Society fulfill CM Punk’s wishes or will those who do not be “gone”?

After losing the Intercontinental Title to Dolph Ziggler, thanks to SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero, a few weeks ago on SmackDown, and after Dolph got himself disqualified, thanks to Vickie Guerrero, to retain the gold last week, Kofi Kingston would challenge Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title once again, but this time, if Dolph gets disqualified, he would lose the Intercontinental Title! In the end, both Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston laid each other out with dueling clotheslines on the outside of the ring! Both Superstars would race for the ring and both Superstars would make it to the apron of the ring, but as Kofi Kingston made it into the ring, Vickie Guerrero would halt Dolph Ziggler long enough for the referee to reach his ten count, meaning that Kofi Kingston won the match, but since it was by count-out, Dolph Ziggler retained the Intercontinental Title! After the match, an enraged Kofi would chase Dolph through the crowd! After Vickie Guerrero once again cost Kofi Kingston the Intercontinental Title, will Kofi Kingston get another opportunity at the gold?

After losing to MVP a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown, “The All-American American” Jack Swagger would face “The Ballin’ Superstar” MVP in the Jack Swagger, Sr. Invitational as Swagger and MVP would compete in an amateur wrestling contest where the winner is determined by who gets five takedowns and the Superstar who does that will win with the stipulation that, if Swagger wins, then Swagger gets to host MVP’s “VIP Lounge” and if MVP wins, then MVP will have an “End of the Summer” party and Swagger would have to pick up the tab! After being down three falls to none, MVP would slap Jack Swagger, which would see MVP getting disqualified in the Amateur Wrestling Contest, meaning that Jack Swagger will get to host MVP’s “VIP Lounge”! After the contest, Jack Swagger would blast MVP from behind on the outside and lock in the ankle lock, forcing MVP to tap out! What will Jack Swagger have in store when he hosts “The VIP Lounge”?

One week after forcing Rey Mysterio to tap out to his cross armbreaker in his debut match last week and viciously assaulting Rey Mysterio earlier in the night, SmackDown’s newest Superstar Alberto Del Rio was in action on SmackDown against local competitor Carlos Sanchez! In the end, it was Alberto Del Rio making relatively quick work of the Fresno native by forcing Carlos Sanchez to tap out to the cross armbreaker!

With Kelly Kelly in his corner, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show would go one-on-one with “The Straightedge Enforcer” Luke Gallows, with S.E.S. members Serena & Joseph Mercury in his corner! In the end, it was Big Show leaving Luke Gallows laying with the Knockout Punch en route to picking up the win! How will CM Punk respond to Luke Gallows’ loss to Big Show?

Then it was time for the moment that WWE fans had been waiting for as “The Phenom” of the WWE would return to SmackDown as, for the fist time since making his shocking return at SummerSlam only to be laid out with the Tombstone Piledriver by his brother Kane, The Undertaker would return to Friday Nights to respond to his own brother, Kane, leaving him in a vegetative state over Memorial Day weekend! After making his chilling and familiar entrance, a still weakened Undertaker states that, he may look “dead”, but he is far from it and he is still “The Deadman” and the ring is still his “yard”! The Undertaker continues that he will “never pardon the guilty” and that his brother, Kane, is “guilty of a treacherous betrayal” and it is a “betrayal” that Kane will “pay dearly for”! Undertaker continues that Kane has a “diseased soul” and the “disease” has “festered and turned into a web of lies” and those “lies” are that Kane could ever fill his boots and “the biggest lie of them all” is that Kane thinks he can carry his “holy grail”, the World Heavyweight Championship! This brings out the World Heavyweight Champion, Kane, who accuses his brother of spinning a “web of lies” and that he can see the “weakness” in The Undertaker! Kane then states that The Undertaker is no longer “The Phenom” and that The Undertaker is not even a “shadow” of what he used to be and he will crush Undertaker under his boot and drop Undertaker on his head again just like he did at SummerSlam before proclaiming that he is now the “dominant brother” and he has “nothing left to prove”! The Undertaker responds by saying that there is a reason that Kane has always walked in his “shadow” and, while Kane calls himself the “devil’s favorite demon”, he built the “house” that the devil lives in “brick by fiery brick” and when he “comes calling”, the devil still answers with “sir”! Undertaker then tells his brother that Kane is “not worthy” of holding the World Heavyweight Title and, most of all, Kane is “unworthy” of being his brother! The Undertaker continues that he taught Kane everything Kane knows about “evil”, but he did not teach Kane everything Kane knows! The Undertaker then proclaims that when “the fight starts, it will end the same way”! Kane responds by saying that they both know it will end the “same way” it did at SummerSlam with The Undertaker “sprawled helpless” at his feet before vowing on their mother’s grave that The Undertaker will “never rest in peace”! Is what Kane speaks true? When these brothers clash again, will the result be the same with Kane standing tall or will The Undertaker regain his dominance over Kane and the WWE?
