Iron Jung #8: From midcard to main event – all we need is a little patience

Howdy folks for another edition of the Iron Jung. In my last column I focused on Chris Jericho. Literally days after I highlighted my love for his will he/won’t he approach to being a heel, they pulled the trigger on his heel turn. In a way I was very frustrated, as I felt there was significant mileage to be given to drawing out Jericho’s dilemma. However it was clearly inevitable that he would turn heel sooner, rather than later. Because that’s the thing with the WWE. Patience, in the last few years, has never been one of their strong points…

Iron Jung #7: Chris Jericho – Save Us Y2J?

Greetings boys and girls, I hope your all well and gearing up for the European Championships. I’m sure they’ll be a fair few surprises like Greece in 2004. For me personally though I’ve already had a surprise and that surprise (love the linkage) has been the one and only Chris Jericho. Thus this week I’ll be focusing on the man known as Y2J and telling you all why Jericho’s gone from being stale and dull to the most interesting man on Raw…

Iron Jung #6: WWE – Deja Vu All Over Again

After my last column on TNA, I thought I’d focus on their superior. The company synonymous with the word wrestling. The WWE. Now I had a variety of people from all over the globe and one person who sounded like he was from Saturn, ask me about my comment from my TNA post in relation to the confusion surrounding WWE’s identity. Well this week I shall discuss my likes and dislikes with regards to current WWE and explain why financially they are in the best shape but creatively; I just can’t get into their programming…

Iron Jung #5: TNA – Turns, Nonsense, Aimless. The Crystal Ball for the Future of Wrestling’s Number Two

Yo Yo Yo let me speak on this. No it’s not Konnan, he’s too busy sorting out his K to the I to the D to the Neys. But this week’s column is linked to K-Dogg. You see he has a problem with TNA. And so do I. While Konnan may want money from TNA for discrimination, I’m ensuring TNA get none of my money. This week I am going to focus on the number 2 wrestling promotion in the USA and explain why being number 1 is a pipedream which won’t ever happen. Yes it really is that cut and dry…

Iron Jung #4: Triple H – Played the wrong game?

Now who watched Backlash? Come on hands up. I imagine a fair few of you. Not because the product is scintillating and you can’t even miss an episode of Heat. Why of course, it was free (for those of us in the UK) wasn’t it? And fair play to you for taking advantage. Stick it to the man. Yet I’m sure a lot of you groaned at the end of the event as we saw for the 117th time, Triple H begin another title reign, which will last what seems like forever. Before you say it though, I’m not going to go on a long rant about his boring counter productive promos from years ago or even how his ability to elevate stars is as good as Teddy Hart’s ability to keep a job. I’m actually going to go for a more well-rounded, civil and helpful approach…

The Iron Jung #3: Maybe It’s Time To Tag Out: The Truth Behind WWE Tag-Team Wrestling

After covering singles wrestlers over the past few weeks, I’d like to turn to that forgotten art in WWE wrestling. No not John Cena delivering serious promos, that remind you he’s not a poor man’s Bobby Davro. Or even Shawn Michaels, selling moves without looking like he’s covered in coiled springs. It’s the wonderful world of tag-team wrestling…

The Iron Jung #2: The Inevitable Chapter of Jeff Hardy in Wrestling History

Now Iron Jung you may ask, in your pursuit of perfection what has got you the angriest? Well guys and gals, through my many years scouring the globe looking for the talent that could make you weep with joy, I’ve seen many wrestlers be passed the torch and set themselves on fire or sometimes more appropriately try light a spliff from it. Jake Roberts…Goldberg …Davey Boy Smith… …Barry Horowitz and so on. But one guy takes the proverbial biscuit. A guy, who isn’t a great wrestler, can’t talk for toffee and is as reliable as an early 90’s Minardi F1 car. Yes it’s the rainbow haired warrior himself, Jeffrey Nero Hardy…

The Iron Jung #1: Ric Flair

Welcome to the first column from the Iron Jung. Throughout this journey onboard this Jung Dragon, you’ll agree with things I say, you’ll disagree with things I say. You’ll love me, you’ll hate me. But lets get one thing straight. You’ll always come back for more. I am your host, your star, your hero in action, your girlfriend’s secret special attraction. An ode to Joel Gertner? No no! It’s more a tribute to our departed, fallen idol, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. See we can all do catchphrases too?
