NCW announce regular monthly shows

Press Release June 28 2004
Southampton, England
NCW IN FOR THE LONG HAUL !

In November 2003 we at National Championship Wrestling announced that we would be holding our debut show on March 13th at the Reading Rivermead Centre. In that press release we announced that Shane Douglas would be flying in to compete for the NCW heavyweight championship and that some of the best British wrestlers in the country would be appearing on the show.

March 13 came and with it so did the fulfilment of all the grand promises that NCW had made to the fans. The venue was ready, the roster was packed with the top British stars in the country and Shane Douglas tore the house down with Robbie Brookside on his way to becoming the first NCW heavyweight champion. At a time in the British wrestling industry when shows are cancelled as quickly as they are announced and the fans have their hopes built up by promoters claiming to be ‘the next big thing’ only to have them dashed when these people can’t live up to their promises National Championship Wrestling made some grand and ambitious plans and delivered on them 100% Now we had such a good time doing it, we’ve decided to do it again.National Championship Wrestling is proud to announce that we will be returning to our home of the Reading Rivermead centre later this year for what will be the first in an ongoing series of blockbuster shows.

President of NCW Peter Virgo says “following on from our successful show in March we shall be a regular promotion staging shows every month from this venue. After witnessing the 300 strong crowd that saw “THE FRANCHISE” SHANE DOUGLAS become the first NCW World champion and the wonderful feedback we have had from people that attended that memorable night we have decided to run every month as opposed to the three shows a year that we had originally planned.

” The reigning NCW champion Shane Douglas, current WWE superstar Eric Priest as well as Robbie Brookside , Jonny Storm , Drew McDonlad, and the Flatliner will all be returning to work for NCW at some stage as well as everyone else we had assembled on our debut show . We hope to build up a steady and recognised NCW roster allowing fans the chance to enjoy ongoing feuds and continuity throughout our shows. We will start from the month of October with shows in November, January , February, March, April , May and June towards the last Friday or Saturday of the month. The first two show dates will be announced in July with tickets going on sale in early August .

Don’t worry if you missed the inaugural NCW show as you will have a chance to catch up on all the action as the Video of our debut event will be released on our official website as well other on-line retailers in the next few weeks. Each show will also be taped and available to purchase through NCW home Video

We would like to thank all those that backed us and look forward to seeing you all in the future .
