This month see’s the release of the most anticipated video game in wrestling history as WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2009 comes to PS3, 360, PS2, PSP, Wii and the DS…phew, what a mouthful. As we’re all settling down in front of our consoles to get ready to lay the Smacketh Down, we’re still hard at work, bringing you an exclusive interview THQ’s Top Brass; Bryan Williams, creative manager and Dan Ryan, associate creative manager about the new game…

I’ve given you my own top ten titles, so now its time for the reader’s own picks. So without further ado, but with great fanfare I present to you their top ten…

The final five, so let the drum roll begin…

We have been graced with videogames now for what seems like an eternity, and graced in this meantime with a vast amount of wrestling titles. Some good; some not so good and then there is the downright awful. There have been cash in franchises, like the ill fated Simpson’s Wrestling title, and there are also been those that reached their demise before their release such as AKI’s planned WCW title on the N64. With all these titles available though, which is the top dog? Which is the title to be reckoned with, and the title that will have the longest shelf life beyond what happens in the real life-wrestling world?

Halloween has passed, and with Christmas fast approaching one would hope there’d be a whole range of titles hitting our shelves to keep us entertained, or to be eagerly waiting to unwrap on Christmas morning. One quick gander around and we have one title and one title only in Smackdown Vs Raw 2007, and by the time you’ll be reading this (I can still maintain that false hope people read articles with my name at the bottom) you will have no doubt been squeezing every last bit of fun to be had out of the title. So for this months article it’s pretty much a scrape the barrel edition, but there has been one key story that has broken out that could combust the whole wrestling games world as we speak; a monumental tale that could knock you off of the back of your chair in shock…

So we are over three quarters of the way through the year now, boy does time fly by. We’ve got as much as we can possibly can out of Smackdown Vs Raw 2006, barring blind folding ourselves and playing in the buff (although I am sure others have already given this a whirl), so we now sit twiddling our thumbs waiting for some new games to preoccupy our time. What a convenient time then to dust off the cobwebs and unleash some exciting news in the form of the Wrestling 101 Games Update…
