2008 WWE Draft RAW Results June 23, 2008

Before I get started, I just wanted to apologize for the delay of this report. With the WWE Draft and everything that changed with it, I was quite busy on Monday Night. I was up past Midnight as it was. So again, sorry for the delay.

The special 3-Hour 2008 WWE Draft Edition of RAW (#787) came to you live from the AT&T Center in Shawn Michaels hometown of San Antonio, TX.

Note: Every single match on RAW was interpromotional and every match was to determine a draft pick(s).

Match Results

  • Non-Title: Triple H (RAW) def. Mark Henry (SD) by pin following the Pedigree to earn RAW the first draft pick.
  • Finlay & Hornswoggle (SD) def. Carlito & Santino Marella (RAW) by Hornswoggle pinning Santino Marella following the Tadpole Splash to earn SmackDown the second draft pick.

  • Draft Pick For Non-Wrestlers Only: Mickie James & Melina (RAW) and Natalya & Victoria (SD) fight to a Double DQ, meaning that RAW & SmackDown both get a draft pick.

*Due to the order of the draft, Matt & Jeff Hardy were reunited as SmackDown Superstars until Matt was drafted to ECW post-match.

**Any championship that a superstar holds will be drafted with them to their brand. Thus, the ECW Championship is on RAW, the United States Championship is on ECW, and the WWE Championship is on SmackDown. Also note that, despite the draft, the matches will still go on as planned. As it stands, SmackDown has two World Champions, RAW has the ECW Title as it’s top title and the U.S. Title is ECW’s top title. Triple H will still face John Cena for the WWE Title, but now the match will also determine which brand the title will go to (Cena for RAW and Triple H for SmackDown). Same situation with the World Heavyweight Title (Edge for SmackDown and Batista for RAW). The interesting thing about the ECW Championship Match is that Kane is now a RAW Superstar and his challenger for the ECW Title is Big Show; a SmackDown Superstar. Meaning that the ECW Title will either be on RAW or SmackDown after Night of Champions. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’m sure it will be worked out after Night of Champions.
