Rey Mysterio is either on the verge of re-signing with WWE or has already done so reports prowrestling.NET. A source close to the situation described his signing as "imminent" last week, while noting that he may have already signed the deal. WWE offered Mysterio a five-year contract, but he has only agreed to a three-year deal.
Mysterio had serious discussions with Mexico’s AAA promotion, which included a three movie deal as part of their offer. The idea was to make Mysterio the modern day version of El Santo—the legendary lucha libre performer who was a wrestling and movie star in Mexico. Mysterio made it known during his negotiations with WWE officials that he wants to be considered for a WWE Films movie role. There are also plans to release a Mysterio autobiography.
