UFC 47 live on Setanta Sport

After receiving confirmation by email from the UFC, can reveal that Setanta Sport will be once again airing another live UFC PPV. Setanta Sport will continue their coverage of the UFC events by showing UFC 47: It’s On! The event will air live on April 2nd from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will air at 3am GMT, which is technically April 3rd in Ireland and the UK.

The event will be headlined by the long awaited UFC Light Heavyweight bout between notorious ground and pounder Tito Ortiz and hard hitting Chuck Liddell, while big Tim Sylvia hopes to regain the vacant UFC Heavyweight Championship with his explosive knock out punching power, as he gets ready to take on the dangerous and well rounded Belarussian, Andrei Arlovski.

The remainder of the undercard is also shaping up nicely. It has yet to be announced which matches on the undercard will be shown live on the PPV and which ones that will be chosen as preliminary bouts though. Up until UFC 44, the UFC would have normally aired as many of the prelims as possible if they had enough time left over after the main event. However, at UFC 45, the UFC only showed brief highlights of the prelims and later claimed that they miscalculated the timing of the PPV considering that they had a few other non fight segments to get in on the PPV such as the UFC Hall of Fame segments.

At UFC 46, they also were left with enough time after the main event to air at least some of the prelims, but they only showed brief highlights once again. The UFC later claimed that it was down to a production mistake. Hopefully, all the fans will get to see some prelim action this time round if time allows. On a brighter note, fans in Ireland and the UK can celebrate the fact that this is the third UFC live PPV that we get to see in a row. UFC 38 was shown by Sky Box office back in 2002, but Sky never showed another PPV after that.

For ages fans in this part of the world constantly worried whether the next PPV they were about to see would be the last or not and we still can’t say for sure about the next PPV, but the fact that Setanta has really given it a chance now hopefully we can be more hopeful of this being a permanent thing.
