Welcome one and all to an early edition of the UK Scene. The next seven days sees me away from the computer travelling the country but I couldn’t leave without typing a column for this week so here it is. This week I will discuss how the FWA’s first weekend back in action went, the busy week UK Scene friend Tex Benedict has had, news on the latest new promotion Robbie Brookside is to work for and much more besides so to quote a phrase sit back relax and let the good times roll…

Welcome one and all to an early edition of the UK Scene. The next seven days sees me away from the computer travelling the country but I couldn’t leave without typing a column for this week so here it is. This week I will discuss how the FWA’s first weekend back in action went, the busy week UK Scene friend Tex Benedict has had, news on the latest new promotion Robbie Brookside is to work for and much more besides so to quote a phrase sit back relax and let the good times roll.

So it’s with FWA we start as after a three month break they sprung back in to life for the New Frontiers weekend. This saw them put on a long weekend of events from Brent, Enfield and Newport. The weekend started on Friday with the first big event of the year “New Frontiers 2.” The night was filled with shocks as first the unannounced Steve Corino came down to ring to call out Alex Shane. As you may know there has been a feud going on between them for some time now so Corino was the last person you would expect to see at a FWA event. Corino went on to challenge Doug Williams for the FWA title later that night in which Williams won two falls to one.

This was not the only surprise to go down at “New Frontiers 2.” After last being involved in the FWA with the old school / new school feud Drew McDonald return to the FWA was announced as the new leader of the Family. The Highlander from Hell should feel right at home with this group of people and I think they have found a brilliant leader and I think it could lead to some interesting storylines.

You may remember a little while back staff member Dan or who most may know him as the Quizmaster held a very interesting interview with Tex Benedict. That interview went on to get praise all over the net and as coincidence would have it since the interview he has kept going on to bigger and better things. This week he was interviewed by online magazine The Level which is for 13 – 17 year olds who are interested in news and current affairs. Go to http://www.thelevel.cf.ac.uk/feature111.php. Not only has he done that but on the weekend he appeared for the FWA in Enfield unfortunately losing to the man beast known as Burchill.

Going back to the FWA there have been many complaints online about the crowd in attendance at the event and how there was a contingent of trouble makers who spoilt the event for the rest. It is a shame but this is common place with a lot of entertainment and sporting events not saying it is right but you can’t vet everybody that buys a ticket to the event like they do for England football matches. All I can say is I know it is hard as I have encountered the same thing at wrestling events but don’t let them stop you from going to and enjoying live wrestling. Just think on the bright side at least there wasn’t a riot like at an event in Australia recently.

On the 17th of April Robbie Brookside will add another promotion to the long list of ones he has worked for by working an event in April for RBW. I may be wrong but I can’t remember him working for them before but please do correct me if I’m wrong as I don’t know everything despite popular belief. Brookside will feel right at home in RBW and am surprised why he doesn’t work for them more often as the promotion does have quite an old school feel about them. He will be right at home working with greats like Keith Myatt and Alan Kilby.

After holding many successful events over the last few years DAM have made the next big step this week by announcing they are to crown a DAM champion and DAM tag team champions. The new champions will be crowned in Norfolk on May 28th. The tag titles will be contended by 6 teams paring off into three matches for the qualifying round with the winners from each going in to a triple threat to be crowned first ever DAM tag champions. The DAM title will be decided in a one on one encounter with the competitors yet to be announced but for those that miss out there will also be a number one contender’s match for the DAM title and they will get a shot at the next event.

Now I know many people have strong thoughts and opinions on the promotion determined to cause a stir without even putting on an event yet that of course being none other than X-Wrestling. After putting back the date of their debut event the stars they had lined up to make their UK indy debuts D’Lo Brown and Raven both huge names that people wanted to see have been signed up to work for other promotions before the date they are due to appear for X-Wrestling. So this has lost some of the appeal and wow factor about the signings and to add to this they have put back their latest announcement to April 18th. I think X-Wrestling need to make a big announcement on the 18th to get peoples attention back and restore faith among the UK Scene fans.

Now on to the regular feature that being of course Brits abroad. Now over the last year many stars from the UK have been going over to NWA:TNA to perform but this month it’s the turn of a group of All Star performers. This time it means something as 4 competitors from All Star will form team UK to battle team Mexico for the coveted Americas X Cup. Britain’s 4 representatives will be Robbie Dynamite, Frankie Sloan, James Mason and “Xtreme” Dean Allmark. They will be managed by Brit legend Dave Taylor and on April 7th will have the chance to do the country proud as they enter the NWA:TNA ring.

Before I go remember if you are a FWA fan then their next events follow hot off the heels of last weekend as they present the Crunch weekend from April the 8th and the 4 dates include the first ever FWA “Unsigned” show so be sure to go to: FrontierWrestling.com and go to the event to be part of history.

So that’s me packing my bags on my travels with just one last plug to make and that is have you ever wondered what I sound like? Well wonder no more as on Thursday the 8th of April from 10am – 12pm you will be able to hear me as I take part in the presenting of a new show called “Winner stays on” on FCUK FM which is broadcast on Sky Digital channel 934 and on the internet at FCUK.com. The show consists of 4 up and coming radio presenters battling for control of the airwaves and the person who stays on the longest is decided by you the viewer through texting in to the show. So be sure to join me as all your support will be welcomed.

Or if heaven forbid you may want to know what I look like the show will be broadcast from the shop window display of the FCUK shop on regent street so why not come down in person and lend your support.

Until next time,

Adam Sibley
